tronic Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Hey all, looking for a little guidance for an upcoming vacation. Heading to Key West on the 26th for 3 nights. Only interested in resorts and only interested in actual Key West. From my research, it seems that the only resorts Priceline offers in Key West are the Casa Marina and the Hyatt. We're fine with either location but I see that the Hyatt isn't even listed on those dates on the regular side of Priceline so does that mean if we win a Name Your Price, Resort, Key West, that we'll for sure get the Casa Marina or is there a chance the Hyatt might be available for NYP but not the standard side? The Casa Marina and Hyatt can be booked on their respective sites for close to $500 a night, what do you recommend I start bidding at? I don't really want to pay much more than $250/night so if we cant NYP for that we'll probably just book something outside of Priceline. Also, would this be the correct order of bidding: "Key West, Resort Only, Bid 1", "Marathon, Resort Only, Bid 2", Marathon - Key Colony Beach, Resort Only, Bid 3"? I see Islamorda and Key Largo have resorts so I'll stay away from them. Thanks, looking forward to trying out Priceline for the first time because I sure don't want to pay 500/night.
yellowdog Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding :) The retail side of PRICELINE is diffrent than the NYOP. You shouldn't look and compare since the retail side use diffrent hotels and zones. So even if you don't see that Hyatt on the retail side can you get it when bidding.Yes, Key West is a tough and expensive zone. I took a quick look at the current prices for your dates and i doubt that $250 will cut it. But please try, it's free and fun  And yes, you got your re-bidding zones correct.Good luck with your bidding and let us know how it goes or just post if you need any further help with your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.PS. Please remember follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancel your trip, etc.

tronic Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 Granted i'm new here and to Priceline, but is this something new? Yesterday I was bidding on Resorts and today I go back to rebid and Resorts are gone, being replaced with 4.5* Deluxe-Plus Resorts.
tronic Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 Went to rebid and I see Priceline no longer lists Resorts separately. Was this updated today? The Casa Marina and Hyatt Resorts are now 4* and they added a 4.5* Deluxe Plus rating.
yellowdog Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Yes, this a brand new for PRICELINE, happend today. This new rating don't affect Key West since it's greyed out (no bidding). Like you say, The Casa Marina and Hyatt Resorts are now 4*. The only zone that got the 4.5* Deluxe Plus rating for the moment is Islamorada. So don't use this zone for your Key West bidding. And Key Largo lost it's Resort.Be observant for changes and always double-check your zones before each bidding cycle to make sure that nothing has changed since previously checking.Keep us updated. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
tronic Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 Ok. But now there are a lot more choices for NYOP, need to do some research to make sure I'm okay with all of them.
