Ron Mexico Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 I'm traveling to NYC with the girlfriend April 18-21. I'd like a 4-5 star hotel somewhere midtown. $250 max a night. What should my strategy be to get the lowest rates? Bid or accept express deal now? Wait till last minute? Hotwire? Priceline? Any help is appreciated!
thereuare Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages.Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, it's all based upon how execpted demand (new reservations and cancellations) comes in relative to actual demand, as prices are constantly updated based upon new bookings/cancellations.Currently HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $192/nite with:Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... my best guess for this property would be the Doubletree Metropolitan.Do you want to go with this HOTWIRE offer, try bidding on PRICELINE for a lower rate (with no ability to know the amenities or guess the hotel beforehand), or wait it out and hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead? I will add that this is about the time when we see rates begin to climb as we head into Spring in NYC (which seasonally is considered 'high season') but there is no telling if 'the season' will start early or late this year. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts, questions, and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
