Priceline Hotel: Bidding Advice - Multiple areas - April 2013

I've tried bidding up to $150 for a 4* Hotel in the following areas for the dates 4/20-4/23:

Civic Center South

Financial District

Fisherman's Wharf

Japan Town

Marina - Lombard Street

SOMA - Moscone Center

Union Square East

Union Square West - Nob Hill

so far have been rejected up to $150 (about my limit) for 4*

went down to 3 1/2 star with bed up to $130, also rejected

went down to 3 star up to $120, also rejected

any tips? Really only using the hotel as a base to spend the night at...don't plan on spending much time in it, that is why I have tried most area's that are at least somewhat convenient to tourist attractions (unsure if I am going to have a car at this point)

I have now tried up to $130 for 2 1/2 star - still rejected. I guess something must be going on this weekend - frustrating

under PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals - it lists a 2* hotel for $78 a night in Marina - Lombard Street. Any ideas what place that is? Under the hotel list link on this site, I didn't see Marina - Lombard Street listed.

What are the amenities showing with the 2* PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals listing?

This is unfortunately a considerably busy period (convention?), as HOTWIRE rates are high and inventory appears limited. You're probably looking at at least mid-$200's for a 4*.
