Remi Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Hello,I'm trying to book a 4* or 5* for this coming April 5-7. I've bid on PRICELINE so far going from a range of $60-$80 for 4* and $100-$130 for 5*. No luck so far. Could anyone please give me some advice? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Are you interested in both Strip North and Strip South?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 The HOTWIRE 4* low - North Strip - was $146 for your dates. Looks like one of those tougher weekends for bidding. You might look at MAPS and HOTELS.com under "Tools" up above to get more info on rates. And it can be worth while to check the hotel web sites directly. Sometimes they have specials. There is also so a Las Vegas Hotel Rate Checker in Tools, and links to a number of the casinos on the Support Page.Romelle
Remi Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 I'm fine with either and I would be looking at PRICELINE. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 At current rates your budget is not enough... the weekend of your visit is the semi-final games of the NCAA Final Four Basketball tournament which is a pretty big deal in Vegas.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com search for '1 mile from the Las Vegas Strip' and then filter the results to just 4* and 5* hotels... what is the best rate you're able to find for each for hotels that are in the zones you're bidding? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Remi Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 I am flexible in terms of price of the hotel, but I do want to be on the strip, although I am a little confused about the Near strip zones on PRICELINE. What should I be budgeting per night for the weekend? I'm ok with either 4* or 5*. This would be my first time in Vegas. Thanks!
Remi Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 On the Hotels map I see the Rio is $188, Westin is $199, and Monte Carlo for $223.
AaronJB Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? I'm seeing the Westin for $159 on HOTWIRE - rates may not be aggressively discounted for these dates, given Final Four.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Remi Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 I would say around $150 (including tax preferred). I'm also confused as to how HOTWIRE works.
Remi Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 I see this hotel on Hotwire for $152. Is this the Westin? 4-star Hotel in The Strip - NorthThis Hotel features the following amenities:Free Parking Casino Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
Romelle Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 ... I'm also confused as to how Hotwire works. With Hotwire there is no bidding. They set the rate. All you do is accept it.The hotel name is hidden or "opaque". In theory you don't know what hotel you get until after you've accepted it. In fact, the moderators here can make an educated guess ahead of time as to the hotel based in the amenity list and other more general information. Particularly with a high volume place like Las Vegas, there is enough prior information that the guesses are usually really good. No guarantees, but the odds of the guess being right are excellent. Hotwire can be a little more expensive than Priceline, but to many people the advanced knowledge is worth any difference.Hotwire zones usually have different boundaries than Priceline zones, so you have to carefully look at those maps and make sure you are OK with the full area. You can zoom way in on those maps, and even see names of casinos. I don't think all of them show up on the maps, but most do. Have you found the Hotel Lists yet? At the very beginning of both this Priceline-Nevada and the Hotwire-Nevada areas are lists of all hotels members have reported to the board as getting through either PL or HW. Romelle
