I'd rather stay in Silver Spring, but nothing decent is showing up there. Might try Priceline first. There haven't been any recently reported wins. Where would you suggest starting these days? Thanks so much!

For Silver Springs on PRICELINE what star rating would you try for and what would be your maximum bid?

3-star (both the Courtyard and Doubletree are perfect location-wise), up to $120... but the bid history is much cheaper.

Any ideas on the Hotwire property above? (And it probably wasn't clear: 4/29 check-in, 5/1 check-out.)

The listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess is that it MAY be an upgraded Sheraton Beltsville with a new amenity set.

Comments on the Priceline strategy mentioned above for Silver Spring?

When bidding 3* in Silver Spring you have TWO re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* Silver Spring...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $75

If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and re-try increasing each bid by $5 every 24 hours (so next cycle would be $80, $85, $90... 24 hours later $95, $100, $105... 24 hours later $110, $115, $120)

If $120 is rejected PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 3* hotel (Internet, Pool, Parking, Business, Fitness) for $126... use the link and code in my signature for an extra 5% off which would bring you down to ~$120/nite. (the code expires 3/31 so you need to be diligent bidding every 24 hours and not miss too many days between)

Please use the PRICELINE link on the board each time to begin your bidding, and not the link in any emails that PRICELINE may send letting you know that your 24 hours is up and you're eligible to bid again.

We decided that a very specific location was most important for this stay, and that a hotel would be worthless for the first night since we'd be getting in at daybreak.

So we booked for 4/30 directly through Priceline (with your link) at the Doubletree in downtown Silver Spring for $143.20+

The DoubleTree Silver Spring would be my best guess for this one.

Used the HOTWIRE links. It was indeed the Doubletree. Booked for two nights through HOTWIRE for essentially the price of one night direct through PRICELINE. (Canceled the refundable back-up Priceline reservation.) Thanks!

Thanks for the info... we are still working on some changes to the backend and once that is completed will update the hotel lists with any zone splits, merges, renaming, etc. I had expected the backend work to be completed by now but it was delayed, hopefully within the week it will be done.
