quaching tiger Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Hi everyone, first time user. I'm looking for a 5* hotel on the LV Strip for the date of 4/19-4/20 AND 6/21-6/23. The budget I'm hoping for is < $150 and no Trump (lol, I saw a similar post to this one earlier, maybe this post can help the other person out!)I'll definitely be sure to use betterbidding's PRICELINE link for all searches I'll conduct.Thank you in advance, everyone. :)*Edit: And I won't forget to post up the results.
thereuare Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use separate threads for each trip... we will use this thread for your first stay of 4/19-4/20, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for the second trip.To confirm, both Strip North and Strip South are both acceptable? (on PRICELINE currently the Trump is in the Strip North Vicinity zone so you should be able to avoid this property by not including this zone in your bidding)Let us know regarding the two zones and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
quaching tiger Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 Yes, sir. Both areas are acceptable.
thereuare Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 At current rates it looks like $150 may be tough for a 5* property, but to give it a try:When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and Strip South...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. quaching tiger Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 I'm a bit confused....So for example, if i get rejected with $110 5* Strip North and Strip South, my next bidshould consist of option 1: ($110 5* Strip North and Strip South + near Strip East) [only changing the bid zone] option 2: ($115 5* Strip North and Strip South) [only changing the price]option 3: ($115 5* Strip North and Strip South + near Strip East)[changing both the bid price and bid zone]?
thereuare Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 I'm not following your example, so let's back-up two steps...1) are you able to identify your re-bid zones as per Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? If YES:2a) list all you re-bid zones in a reply to this threadIf NO, try:2b)Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter New Orleans and your dates, and click "GO".List each zone that is offered in this region. Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you're still confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. quaching tiger Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 My re-bid zones are:Las Vegas (Airport LAS)Las Vegas (Boulder Strip)Las Vegas (Convention Center)Las Vegas (Fremont Street Vicinity)Las Vegas (Henderson)Las Vegas (Lake Las Vegas)Las Vegas (near Strip East)Las Vegas (near Strip West)Las Vegas (Strip North)Las Vegas (Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway)Las Vegas (Strip North Vicinity - Condo) (NOT A RE-BID ZONE)Las Vegas (Strip South)Las Vegas (Summerlin)I think I got it, still update you guys as soon as possible!
thereuare Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 NO...Las Vegas (Strip North Vicinity - Condo) is NOT a re-bid zones since that zone contains 5* hotels... you want zones that ONLY contain hotels reated less than 5 stars. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
quaching tiger Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 Opps, I forgot.Another question, do amenities have a factor in the bid process? If so, in what ways?
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 Amenities are not a factor in the bid process. They simply show what amenities are guaranteed when bidding that star level in that zone.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
quaching tiger Posted March 26, 2013 Author Report Posted March 26, 2013 bad news. i dont think i am going to go to las vegas anymore. thank you all for the tips!
