Saltone Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 I have clicked the two links, I answered the Chicago thread (we did not go). and my travel dates are this SUnday 3/24-3/28 for four nights. Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 I assume this is the I-Drive South property? If so, this property has not yet been reported to the board, but this property shows a very low 55% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests, so i would proceed very cautiously with this HOTWIRE offer. If this is the only option you have within your budget, you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. Saltone Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 So are you saying that if I book a room through HOTWIRE, I can book it for one night then add as many more nights as I want? Can you clarify this? and would it be with any reservation? I just found a 4 star on Sunday for $100, Could I book it for Sunday then add three more nights at $100?
thereuare Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 No... i'm saying that you do the following TWO THINGS:1) search HOTWIRE for the fist (or last) nite of your stay2) search HOTWIRE for the remaining nites of your staySee if the same hotel (based upon the star rating, amenities, and any other information shown by HOTWIRE) is offered for both sets of dates. If so, then you purchase the solo nite in order to look behind the curtain and if you're happy with the outcome then immediately repeat your search for the remaining nites and purchase the balance. There is always a chance that the hotel is no longer offered for the balance of your stay after you complete the first purchase, but as it was just showing for the remaining nites 2 minutes before your purchase of the solo nite, odds are good that it will still be there.Does that make it clearer? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Saltone Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Yes, this makes sense. I am still working on this. What is your experience of using priceline or hotwire for a room when traveling with 4 (two adults two 10 year olds)? I am tentative that I will get a king room and that I will not know what to do with the two boys. Especially in a tourist town where a lot of the people are looking for hotel rooms with more than one bed.
AaronJB Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 PRICELINE guarantees double occupancy/1 bed, although one can request two beds with the hotel - the hotel can say no or charge more (it may even depend on the day.) Some areas may be better than others - Florida has a better chance with two beds than NYC, but there's still no guarantee.Searching for four on HOTWIRE in general should result in bedding for the entire party - that may be two beds, one + sofabed or one + rollaway.Searching for four on HOTWIRE certainly gives better odds of bedding for the party than using PRICELINE.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
