Priceline Hotel: newbie parking question

new to Priceline, but want to try for an upcoming trip to NYC. Bringing the family. Can I park the car for the week at the hotels or do they shuttle them somewhere else? Is there a starndard rate for a weekly parking deal like this? Is there somewhere I can request parking to be included when I go to bid on the hotel rooms? Also, we are travelling with 2 teenagers and are thinking we should get 2 rooms instead of 1 with 2 doubles. Can we expect a decent deal on a 2 room bid/purchase...in other words should I be offering less for 2 rooms?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

You can park the car at all hotels, but it's best not to drive into NYC. Hotel parking will likely run $60 or more per night.

Bidding is for room only, although bidding + parking is still going to be cheaper than a regular rate + parking package.
Also, we are travelling with 2 teenagers and are thinking we should get 2 rooms instead of 1 with 2 doubles
NYC rooms are small/very small and PRICELINE only guarantees one bed. If you use PRICELINE, I'd expect one bed. With HOTWIRE, you can indicate 2 adults and 2 children and that should result in *some* form of bedding for the whole party (can be 2 beds, 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway.)
Can we expect a decent deal on a 2 room bid/purchase...in other words should I be offering less for 2 rooms?
Two rooms would not mean a better deal, unfortunately. What would be your desired budget per night/star rating, and which zone/s would be of interest?

As long as parking isn't much more than 60. Is it possible to just find a lot somewhere in NYC or are they likely all full or reserved for parking.

Also, we would like 2 rooms. They don't have to be side by side but would be nice. Want something like the Waldorf or lots of stars...Can I get something like that thru Priceline like that for 200 each room? plus parking, looking at first week of May

Assuming you mean parking at less than $60/day that is easily do-able from a private lot (separate from your hotel)... you can usually easily find something for ~$35/day... and less if you're willing to stay a little further from your hotel (where ever that ends up being)

What are the actual dates of your trip... or are your plans not yet firm?

this is great, I've never used PRICELINE before but as long as I know I can get parking somewhere else in NYC, hopefully close by, as an option if the hotel tries to gouge me.

We will be bidding for May 4-9 or 10. Our plans are firm, we are just waiting for our passports and I don't want to book anything until those are in my possession. Half my people want to stay in a dive as they say it's only a place to sleep. I have stayed in way too many dives in my lifetime and can tell you for sure your hotel is more than a place to sleep. It's a big part of the overall experience of your vacation so since I am paying for it I want the best hotel possible so I thought to try PRICELINE as our only concerns were to get 4 stars or higher, and where to park the car...but that's been answered.

I stayed at the W in December, I parked 2 blocks away from the hotel and saved $150+ over the 5 days of parking, check out nyc.bestparking.com, once you have booked your hotel you put the address in the parking website search engine, it will show you on a map the closest parking lots and the rates. PRINT the coupon for the lot you choose and it bring it with you to the parking site to guarantee the rate. The hotel was charging $62 a night, I paid $33 at the parking garage which was clean, well lit, and well organized. Good luck. :D

Please keep us updated as to when you are ready to bid, as well as desired budget per night for this stay. If half the party wants to stay at a lower-rated hotel and part of the party wants to stay at a higher end hotel, if the two halves don't mind not being in the same hotel, you could both agree on a particular zone or zone/s and half the party could bid for a lower end hotel and half the party could bid for a higher end hotel. It would all depend if you don't mind breaking up the party and if you don't mind, how far apart would be acceptable.
