Codey H. Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Has anyone had success with planning a trip to Key West? I'm hoping to reduce the costs I'm seeing on 3* or better.. but there's so little data to work with!CI on 6/4/13 and CO on 6/8/13 if that helps.
AaronJB Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Codey H. Posted March 19, 2013 Author Report Posted March 19, 2013 Hi Aaron, long time lurker, but finally posting. We're hoping to go 3.5* or better based on the list. I think our hopeful budget is $150-180 with a little flexibility on the higher end. As stated earlier, CI and CO are 6/4-6/8/13.Thanks for any insight, and as always I'll use your links :)
thereuare Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Key west is notoriously a tough zone, but i just searched HOTWIRE for your dates and there is a 3.5* for $129/nite with:Resort Free Parking Free Internet Oceanfront Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible ... and a 4.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating.Best guess for this property would be the Parrot Key Resort.PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* at $209 (link and code in my signature can bring it down to $199/nite) and a 3.5* for $131/nite (5% off brings it to $124/nite)Thoughts on any of the above or do you prefer to try bidding on PRICELINE? If you would like to bid, are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Codey H. Posted March 19, 2013 Author Report Posted March 19, 2013 Yeah, we're okay with bidding, and getting the best 3.5* or better for the money. We've bid $160 for 4* so far, which I know is a stretch, but have to set a baseline somewhere. Also tried $106 for 3.5* with no success.Any guess what the PRICELINE EXPRESS at $124 might be?
thereuare Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 A guess would be the Doubletree Grand Key with a secondary guess of the Sheraton Suites... but there would be others as well.Any interest in this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer or do you want to move forward with bidding? If the latter, what is your maximum bid at the 3.5* level? (before taking the $125 PRICELINE EXPRESS offer? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 If you Search this forum (and the HOTWIRE Florida forum) for 'key west' you can see other member reports of their bidding efforts. I know I've got one in there 3-4 years back and quite a few other people have since taken runs at the situation. You might get some ideas, or at least enjoy some company.Romelle
Romelle Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I need to amend my suggestion. If you search on 'key west', you also pick up every occurrence of 'west'. Amazing how often that word is used!It works much better if you just search on 'keys'.Romelle
