laurent221 Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 HelloI need help in identifying this hotel bid4 star hotel in chelsea, $215.00 per room, per nightamenities :Fitness CenterBusiness CenterHigh-Speed Internet Access from the lsit my best guess would be the4* Hotel Indigo (previously 3.5*) but some amenities are missing
thereuare Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Unfortunately a property with this amenity set has not yet been reported to the board and the amenities are quite common for a NYC hotel that i'm not able to gain too much insight into this one.The Hotel Indigo would certainly be one possibility, but i think the Doubletree Times Square South (previously the Wyndham) would be a possibility as well, and given how common these amenities are, there are likely a few other possibilities as well. What is your maximum budget per nite for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
laurent221 Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 Ideal budget would have been around 200USD with breakfast but I understand it is NYC and it is better to pay a little more and have good stay than try to hard on saving(btw I have a modifiable res at 330USD BB in a 5 star but with an non ideal location)I prefer Chelsea to Midtown as it is quieter and to my mind a nicer part of Manhattan esp 42nd st. (or used to be)
thereuare Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 What about a well rated 3.5* hotel? There is a 3.5* offered (searching 2adults/2children) in the Chelsea zone for $205/nite with a 90% recommendation from previous guests as well as a 4.0/5.0 TA rating and the following amenities:Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Best guess for this property would be the Flatiron Hotel Toshi, downgraded from the 4* level since the last time it was reported to the board.Would this work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. laurent221 Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 It would have been a good option but I looked a bit too lateThe guest goes on...
thereuare Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 It would have been a good option but I looked a bit too lateThe guest goes on...I'm still seeing this offered on HOTWIRE when searching for your dates 2adults/2children... i'd give it another search to see if it appears. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. laurent221 Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Posted March 15, 2013 I can see it nowhow does it compare with One UN New York at 240USD?
thereuare Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 Assuming we've guessed correctly, both hotels generally get good reviews, but the location of the Flatiron Hotel is substantially better. The ONE UN New York is located very far east and the walk to the subway can be up to 15 minutes... the Flatiron hotel will have you within 5 blocks of three different subway stations (each with different routes/lines running thru them so you have more options of not needing to make a transfer depending upon where you are heading). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. laurent221 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 Lost again , Should I wait ?as an alternateThere is a 4 star in MTE, 90%rate, 240USD ??One UN New York now rated 4 star?? This Hotel features the following amenities:Indoor pool(s)Fitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet Access.Tennis Nearbyor 4 star in Chelsea 85% rated, 235USD ??4* The New Yorker Hotel Ramada Plaza (previously 3.5*)?? This Hotel features the following amenities:Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityWheelchair accessibleAccessible bathroomRoll-in shower
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 I'm seeing the 4* Chelsea, which would likely be the Ramada Plaza New Yorker.I'm seeing the 4* MTE for a significantly higher rate, as well as more amenities than what you have listed above. If you click "see details" and then click 'see all amenities', do you see additional amenities beyond the ones noted above?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
laurent221 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 Hi AaronI just relaunched my request and the MTE appears now as 3.5 star which would be consistent with the One UNsometimes Hotwire behavior is weird..
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Happy to help - is there something in particular you're looking for in terms of hotel?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
laurent221 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 I would say something convenient and family friendly, comfortable and...relatively inexpensive!!which seems to be a challenge in NYCI now regret not having followed thereuare advice faster but I thought that adding breakfast to the check made a relatively small difference with the Conrad I have blocked. My boys are 7 and 10. Maybe I should not reserve for 4 ?I just found a 3.5 star hotel in Soho 205USD but no amenities mentionnned??
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Just so that we know a comparable rate level, what is the price per night of the Conrad that you have booked (in USD$, before taxes/fees?)Breakfast is a nice added value, but if not included it's fun in NYC to go and try different local restaurants.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
laurent221 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 329USD with breakfast which comes not cheap...Otherwise I estimated bkfast for the whole family at 80USD tax+gratuity included per daySoorry to be such a bother
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Moderator thereuare will likely be able to offer breakfast suggestions that may come in under $80.If you are a party of four, in NYC, I'd indicate four or there's a strong possibility that you'll be stuck with one bed. Some hotels in NYC may also have max occupancy issues. There's also some cost and time savings if you stay in Midtown vs Downtown, as well.Unfortunately, if there aren't any amenities showing with a listing, there is really no way to begin to narrow down what it may be. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Otherwise I estimated bkfast for the whole family at 80USD tax+gratuity included per dayYou could spend that if you wanted to but there is no reason to... plenty of bagel shops where your family can eat well for well under $25, deli counter places that serve the 'on the go' business community and offer freshly made eggs on a roll and coffee for $2-$3, pancake plates for $4, etc. (no waitress service but many locations have upstairs/downstairs seating where you can take your food to eat).I wouldn't risk booking double occupancy in NYC when you will actually be four guests. However, the 3.5* in Chelse-MSG is back (searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children) and currently offered for your dates for $210/nite (Boutique, Restaurant, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible). There is also a 4* in Chelsea-MSG for $218/nite with (Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower)... my guess for this one would be the Doubletree NYC-Chelsea.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. laurent221 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks for the advices on breakfast which comes helpful all the more so as the point is not to gain 10 pounds in a fortnight US stay!!Which hotel would you recommend Flat Iron or Double Tree (if it is these two)? If i look at TA, the former is definitely the winner ?or should I splurege and go for the 3.5-star Hotel in Empire State Building, 269USD, 100% recommendationThis Hotel features the following amenities:Free InternetFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterLaundry Facilities (self-service)High-Speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 A guess for the 3.5* ESB property would be the The Dylan, and personally i wouldn't spend the extra $50/nite for it... while it does have a 100% user recommendation from HOTWIRE, it has a 3.5/5.0 TA rating which i would hope for better given the percent recommended from HOTWIRE users (and only 10+ reviews so not enough data to make an informed decision, imo).As far as the other two properties it's a toss up... the Doubletree is a chain hotel whereas the Flatiron Hotel is independently owned (i believe)... the former may have a bit more structure of the way things are done while the latter may be hit or miss in terms of some things falling a little below your expectations and other aspects going beyond your expectations. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes. laurent221 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 I will try the guessed Flat iron then but an ultimate question (no my name is not Colombo)theres is a4-star Hotel in Chelsea - Madison Square Garden at 218USD which seems to attract major interest (27 bookings). My guess is, it is the New Yorker. Is it worth the 8 extra bucks? What do you think ?This Hotel features the following amenities:Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityWheelchair accessibleAccessible bathroomRoll-in shower
thereuare Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Isn't the 4* Chelsea-ESB property you reference in your last post the same one mentioned here:There is also a 4* in Chelsea-MSG for $218/nite with (Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower)... my guess for this one would be the Doubletree NYC-Chelsea.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- don't worry about how many people have previously purchased in the last 24 hours. I wouldn't let that be part of your buying decision, and although we haven't researched if further, i think that may be the number of rooms bought at that star level and in that zone... not the specific hotel that is being offered. laurent221 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 I know why you are the moderator or Eagle's EyeIt definitely buys my decision to go for the 210USD guessed Flat Iron (which is a nice building btw even though my favorite would be the Chrysler)
thereuare Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Let us know how it goes and please use the HOTWIRE US site for your purchase (which you can still use by changing the drop down menu on the top right to United States, then change the currency to whatever you'd like to purchase in)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. laurent221 Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 Again it appears to be goneIt seems it appears in my office computer but not at home???but there is a new one4-star Hotel in Central Park East, 222 USDThis Hotel features the following amenities:Boutique HotelRestaurant(s)High-Speed Internet Access which I cannot find on you list unless the Marmara has been upgraded??>>> Finally drove back to my office and here it appears againso that is it I bought the flat iron hotel for 210USD per nightthanks better bidding
AaronJB Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 I'm not seeing this listing when searching for four people only two, but I really wouldn't recommend staying in Central Park East. This listing hasn't been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Bentley may be a possibility.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
