Priceline Hotel: 4* Maui (Wailea - Makena) Makena Beach And Golf Resort

Trying to book 4 nights 4/12/13 - 4/16/13 for a Resort in Maui (Kaanapali - Lahaina)

I would be happy with any of the Resorts below. I did bid a 4* on accident to begin with and then tried 4* again since I did not have any luck

Maui (Ka'anapali - Lahaina)

Resort Hyatt Regency

Resort Sheraton

Resort Westin Maui Resort and Spa

So far I have tried the following:

Started bidding $171 for 4* in (Kaanapali - Lahaina); failed

Following day bid $190 for RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina); failed

Following day bid $202 for RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina); failed

Re-bid at $215 for RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina) & Kahului; failed

Re-bid at $177 for 4* & RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina) & Kahului & Kihei; failed

I really want to get one of the resorts in (Kaanapali - Lahaina). If not a resort then 4*.

any suggestions? Thank You

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.

While the Whaler has not been seen as a reported win for a few years thru PRICELINE's Name Your Own Price service, it could return at any time... are you willing to accept any hotel in the zone (at the minimum star rating or higher) that you bid?

If so, using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? How high are you willing to bid for a Resort before lowering your star rating to 4 stars? What is your maximum bid at each star level?

Originally I only wanted to stay in the (Kaanapali - Lahaina) area but I had to open my strategy to (Wailea - Makena) if I wanted a 4* or higher under $200 during my dates.

Re-bid $180 for 4* & RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina) & (Wailea - Makena); failed

Re-bid at $185 for 4* & RESORT in (Kaanapali - Lahaina) & (Wailea - Makena) & Kahului and got the Makena Beach And Golf Resort.
