educamate Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Hi. Can anyone help ID the following hotel? Also, I'm looking to stay overnight to catch a concert at the Hardrock. Preferably a cheap and clean hotel. They've bumped up prices all around for this weekend. Does anyone know of any better deals, or if I have a shot at pricing this hotel lower on Priceline? Thanks!Inputs:1 Bedroom, 2 individualsCheckin: Sat, 10/29/05Checkout: Sun, 10/30/05Results:$108, "Best Value"Selected amenities include: Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), High-Speed Internet Access.
thereuare Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! This is a match for the Fairfield Inn so that would be our best guess. The La Quinat also seems to fit, but as that hotel has not yet been seen, and the above is an exact match for the Fairfield Inn, the Fairfield Inn would be our speculation as to this property's identification.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. educamate Posted September 1, 2005 Author Report Posted September 1, 2005 Thanks for your quick response. If it actually is the Fairfield Inn, that would be excellent since I'm a big fan of Marriott's. Do you think I can get a lower price on Priceline? Otherwise I'll just book this one and let you all know what hotel I get.
thereuare Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 You could probably get a hotel cheaper on Priceline, but then the issue is whether or not it will likely be the Fairfield Inn (not that the above is guaranteed either, but at least there is something to go on).Let us know if you want to try the Priceline route and if so we'll suggest a strategy for you to try... or let us know what the above hotel turns out to be. educamate Posted September 2, 2005 Author Report Posted September 2, 2005 I'd like to give Priceline a shot for a min. of three star. Any suggestions on beginning price to aim for? I was skimming some of the priceline postings. Is it okay to shoot low and keep increasing the amount? They won't lock you out after a certain number of bids?
thereuare Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Priceline requires you to change something before making the same exact bid (otherwise users would start at $1 and increase $1 for each successive bid until they had success). Are you familiar with PRICELINE RE-BIDDING?When bidding for 3* you'll have two such re-bid zones... let us know if you can figure out which they are based upon the information in the above link; feel free to ask questions if you don't understand something.Once you have your re-bid zones understood, let us know your maximum bid and we'll be able to suggest a strategy.Do note that the Fairfield Inn has not yet been reported via Priceline, and if they do participate, i would suspect that it would be rated less than 3 stars... don't know if that is still what you're trying for or if you're open to 'winning' other properties. educamate Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 We ended up booking a hotel directly at Candlewood Suites for around $120 (east of the strip). Although the rooms were nothing fancy, they were very clean with free internet access and full kitchen. And I ended up getting 1 southwest airlines credit for the stay.
