bmuro Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 Started out at $110 and got accepted first bid.I am extremely satisfied and thank this site greatly. This is the first time I ever bid on a hotel before. I usually go through Vegas dot com with the $100 Costco gift cards you can buy for $80 but that promotion has since ended. Through looking for alternatives to save money I came across Hotwire hot rates and thanks to some Internet research I came across this site which showed how to figure out the hotel by the amenities listed ( I did not want the Trump hotel that was listed at the hot rate of $98). After browsing through the forum and educating myself on Priceline's NYOP option seeing peoples recent winning bids I narrowed down the likely hotel to be The Venetian. I figured $110 was a fair price to start at with 8 possible $5 re-bids (by adding zones that did not have 5 star hotels) which would bring me to my max budget of $150.$110 was the lowest accepted bid that others have posted going as high as almost $200 for The Venetian. I should have started out lower since Hotwire's hot rate for 5 star North strip was $143 (the $98 choice is the Trump hotel) and Priceline's express deal was $129 for a 5 star north strip hotel (does not include Trump). I would have been happy with Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo so I should of started at $95 bringing my max budget to $135 which was roughly the median between Hotwire and Priceline's hot rate/express deal. Now I have gained experience and know exactly what to apply to my next bidding purchase thanks to research and this site. Thanks guys!
