WITTYTJ Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Hey, I was wondering why I cannot find the Embassy Suites (formerly DoubleTree) on Winter St. in Waltham. I know I pricelined a stay there on 7/4/10 when it was DoubleTree and I did see it on a HotWire quick deal yesterday.I was just wondering because this is a phenomenal hotel for the price.
WITTYTJ Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 Hey,I am looking for a room in a 4 star hotel in the Boston area, in the area of Boston Common/Theatre District. I have been bidding around 80-85 because I want something around 100 out the door. Do you have any tips?
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Rates are quite high for this night in downtown/core areas of Boston, including the one you mentioned, with 4*'s on HOTWIRE going for around $200 and above. Unfortunately, I don't think $100 is going to be realistic for these dates; you're likely looking at $150-175 (before taxes/fees.) Even some of the outlying areas are pricey for the 9th. Is $100 your desired max?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
WITTYTJ Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 Yes, I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal last week for a Saturday for like $89 at a 4 star in the area. Am I better off waiting until Saturday to bid?
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Rates vary substantially by date/s and this is really "last minute" for this date. I'm guessing something is going on (convention?) to cause rates to be as high as they are for these dates. Might they come down a bit over the next couple of days? Possibly, there's no way to know for sure (they can also go the other way) - but unfortunately I don't think they're going to come down towards the $100 level and could certainly remain elevated.Thank you using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

WITTYTJ Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 That was a while ago but I followed up.
WITTYTJ Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Any ideas for around 150? 3 stars up in the downtown area anywhere that is T accessible?
thereuare Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Any ideas for around 150? 3 stars up in the downtown area anywhere that is T accessible?Your hotel can be anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone so you'll need to feel comfortable that the entire zone is well located enough to a T stop (fortunately many of the 'downtown' zones in Boston are not geographically large) but you'll need to let us know which zones you're comfortable bidding.I'll add that if you're looking at the 'downtown' zones (Boston Common, Copley Square, Quincy Market) that even $150 for a 3* may be difficult given current prices. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the zones you're willing to accept and confirm that $150 is still your maximum bid and we'll take it from there.
