sandykay Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 I am planning a family reunion June 22-29, 2013 and need help with strategy! Should i try to book early or wait until after the first of the year? I am targeting Incline Village's Hyatt Resort or Resort at Squaw Creek.. Any help would be appreciated...
sandykay Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 I am going to Lake Tahoe June 22-29, 2013 and i want to avoid getting The Village at Squaw Creek...i am wondering if i click on Resort in that area, will that assure me of getting the more desired Resort at Squaw Creek? Thanks!

thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 As far as when to bid, see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ for a discussion on this subject. In regards to the Village at Square Creek, this property has not yet been reported to the board, so there is no telling what the star rating might be and/or if they even participate with PRICELINE. In the more general sense, you can't bid on, or avoid, a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive (or avoid) the hotel you're hoping for.Let us know if/how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. sandykay Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 I would like to Proceed bidding in the North Lake Tahoe and Incline Village areas for the week of June 22-29, 2013. I only want to try the Resort and 4 star levels for each hotel/resort. I will use the links on this board to book. Thank you!
thereuare Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 The Incline Village zone has Resort class properties but no 4* properties... the North Lake Tahoe zone has 4* properties but no Resorts. Are you willing to pay more for a Resort hotel vs. a 4* property or is the least expensive 4* or better your goal for this trip? Do you favor one zone over the other? What is your maximum bid at this point in time? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the information above and we'll advise accordingly. sandykay Posted September 29, 2012 Author Report Posted September 29, 2012 My first choice is the resort at incline village but the 4 star hotel at north lake Tahoe would be fine...at this point $160 a night would be the maximum bid.

I always use your links, even if just searching for certain areas to check prices. Thanks and keep up for the good work!Question for this strategy...might be worth starting a new thread, but looks like when I goto priceline, there is no 4* option for Incline Village. Only 1*, 2* and RESORT. Is the Hyatt Regency classified as a Resort now? Thanks.

Thanks.
mknight1234 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 I won! I used the below bidding strategy starting with Incline Village. Instead of starting at $75, I started at $65. I selected Incline Village/Resort at $65/nt and jumped up $5 for each re-bid zone I added, knowing that none of them had a resort property. You should check this yourself since new properties are added all the time. Winning bid was the 4th attempt after adding Carson City, then Gardnerville and Truckee at $80/nt. Total for 2 nts is $190, which is still cheaper than the hotwire posted $101/nt for a 4* in Incline Village which would net $242 for the total trip. Much less stressful to do this after some guidance through the gurus here are bb. Pay it forward by always using the board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Thanks all!
AaronJB Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Congrats on your success. :)Solid win for this Hyatt property! Glad you are pleased with the result and are looking forward to your stay.
