Madss12 Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I am looking for help with the dates 8/21/13-8/28/13.I would prefer 4*, but would settle for 3.I would be happy with any of the following areas (in order of preference below)1)Chelsea Area2) Madison Square Garden3) Hells Kitchen4) Times Square/Theatre District5)Midtown WestWill bid up to a max of $180 - but would prefer to get under if possible.Should I start bidding now? Is it too early? Also, what are my chances of getting something, seeing that it's quite a long stay (7 nights) ?Thank you in advance for you help!

Madss12 Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 Hello,I've clicked on both of the links.Thank you!
thereuare Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 Summer is generally a slower time of year in NYC so i don't you'll need to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.I would suggest start bidding now with a $140 maximum bid for a 4* hotel. While this may not necessarily be successful today, i would continue with that strategy over the next few months and you can consider increasing your bid closer to your $180 maximum as you get 4-6 weeks out before your stay. Also, does MTE and/or ESB not work for your plans, as these are also frequently bid at the 4* level and most users find them to be centrally located. Do you want to include either/both of these zones in your bidding?Let us know if you find the 'start bidding now up to $140 strategy' a good gameplan and also let us know if we should include MTE and/or ESB, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Madss12 Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 Ok, that's great that you don't think I'll need to split my bid!I am happy to include MTE and ESB if that will increase my chances of a good price for 4 stars!I like the idea of starting now and then slowly increasing. I'd heard that summer was a slower time so hoping to get a great deal! I look forward to hearing the strategy, then I'll start my bidding today through your link!Thank you!

Madss12 Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 I have tried all of the above options, and all were rejected at this stage.I will keep trying with this strategy though, and will let you know if I am successful! Thank you!
thereuare Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Don't get discouraged as this early getting rejected was almost an expected result.Just bid once/twice a week at this early stage of the game as any more then that you will likely get frustrated and that is usually when impulse decisions and bidding errors occur.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if/how we can be of further help along the way. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
