Hotwire Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown East) W New York

I am being offered $206 for Midtown East in Mid July, for 4* hotel. The rate seems pretty good compared to other sites. I was wondering if I should do some bidding on Priceline or jump in at this price?

Amenities include:

Fitness Center

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-Speed Internet Access

85% positive reviews.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated

I'm seeing a 4* in MTE for these dates, but the amenities I'm seeing are restaurant/business/internet.

Are you still seeing a listing with restaurant, business, internet, fitness in the 4* MTE spot? If so, are you searching for more than 2 people?

Searching for 2 people. I just checked again in a new browser window and they were the same details. Though now saying 90% approval in reviews.

As you might expect these amenities are very common at a 4* hotel in NYC and there are multiple properties that this could be... The Alex, Doubletree Metropolitan, Grand Hyatt, InterContinental The Barclay, Roosevelt and W New York have all used this amenity set in the past, so any of these are likely, although given how common the amenities are i'll also state that it could also be some entirely different property as well.

Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.

Another option if you're willing to stretch your budget a little further is change your search to 2adults/1child and a new 4* hotel appears in this zone for $227/nite with:

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Tennis

... as well with a 4.0/5.0 TA rating. Best guess for this property would be the Grand Hyatt or InterContinental Barclay.

Lastly, PRICELINE EXPRESS has 4* hotels in this zone as well as a few neighboring zones for $205-$210... use the link and code in my signature for 5* off and you're just about at the same price as the HOTWIRE hotel above. For instance there is a 4* hotel in the MTW zone with a user review rating of 9.0/10.0 for $218/nite ($207/nite after 5% off) with Free Internet, Restaurant, Airport Shuttle, Business Center, Fitness Center. While i doubt the Shuttle is complimentary (more likely a shared van service is available for an additional fee) i would feel pretty good about the 9.0/10.0 rating from previous PRICELINE guests. You could do the same 'solo nite' strategy above for this property as well.

Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the amenities that were shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.
