poqerdude Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I booked the W Hollywood when I bid 130 per night, seemed like an incredible rate, but I have very young children and when I called the hotel they said do not bring your children here. Priceline let me cancel the reservation. I wish I was going there with my wife, looks like a tone of fun.
aarif1 Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 First off, I think the W is not in Beverly Hills - West Hollywood, but rather is in Hollywood proper. But more importantly, I'm surprised that they told you not to bring kids. How many kids are we talking here, two, or more than two? I just did a search on the Hotels website for the same dates and its showing availability for rooms with 2 queen beds. I'm a little concerned because I've been bidding for 4* in Hollywood, hoping to get this or the Loews, and I have two young children as well.
thereuare Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I'm sure the hotel did NOT say "Don't bring your children" but more so is related to the issue that we discuss frequently... PRICELINE reservations are for standard rooms and guaranteed for double occupancy only which means you could receive a room with only one bed. At this property it appears that rooms with two beds are considered an upgrade from standard and cost $80 more per nite (at least on the search for the dates i checked), so it would not be reasonable expect such a room on your PRICELINE booking (at least not without an upgrade fee paid to the hotel which the hotel may or may not be willing to do based upon their own policies and room availability)When you're going to be more than double occupancy HOTWIRE is a better/safer option as they will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone that you include in your search. While this usually/often (depending upon the area) means a room with two beds, the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.poqerdude,Welcome 'offiically' to BetterBidding. If you've made any other PRICELINE or HOTWIRE purchases in the nearly 7 years since joining the board, it would be appreciated if you started to share your wins with the board so that others can benefit from the information.aarif1,...I've been bidding for 4* in HollywoodIf you'd like help with your own stay please start a NEW TOPIC, and please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future bidding, searches, and travel purchases.Thanks. poqerdude Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 I have 2 kids, a 2 year old and a 4 month old. I read hundreds of reviews for the W hollywood and one theme was clear: party hotel, has a night club inside, pool is for adults only. I called twice and spoke to two different people at the hotel, both recommended to not bring kids to the hotel.Nobody said "don't bring kids" but just call the hotel right now and ask if its a good idea. They'll say no.
thereuare Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 ...when I called the hotel they said do not bring your children here.vs....both recommended to not bring kids to the hotel. These are two very different comments, imo... one is saying that you're not allowed... the other is a bit of friendly advice. It would be appreciated if you used the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future bidding, searches, and travel purchases.Thanks.
