F Grant Whittle Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 I looked in Las Vegas for 4/8-4/10 and came up with a 5* for $153, but there was no warning about a resort fee, which I thought was strange because all the 5* properties I know of in that area have resort fees. I don't want to book this property if there is a resort fee, but am not sure I should trust Hotwire on this. The amenities are below:Free Parking Casino Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
thereuare Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! My best guess for this property would be a new amenity set for the Cosmopolitan which only recently has begun to charge a Resort fee.If you're only willing to book a hotel without a resort fee there aren't too many options at the 4*/5* level in Vegas and you'll more than likely need to book direct (where the savings of no resort fee may quickly vanish based upon the cheaper room rate may have received thru PRICELINE or HOTWIRE)Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. F Grant Whittle Posted March 1, 2013 Author Report Posted March 1, 2013 I didn't think there were any 5-stars that didn't charge resort fees, which is why I was confused. I have made my peace with resort fees, but I still don't like them. The NAB convention in town on those dates is making all Strip properties outrageous, so I recognize this is a pretty good rate, resort fee or not, but it is right on the edge of what I am willing to spend, and an added resort fee would push it past. I have a reservation at El Cortez already, for, of course, a much lower price, and although I am willing to spend a lot more for a special property, it's probably not that much more. ($180 + possible resort fee vs. $25 for El Cortez.) I'm going to keep looking. Thanks for your help.
