pennypincher1 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Been bidding on PRICELINE for a hotel in DC for about a week now with no luck. I only chose the downtown and capitol hill areas, hoping for a 4 star. Started bidding at $95 and increased in approx $5 intervals. Was finally accepted for $128 when I bumped down to 3.5 stars. I'm newer to this bidding thing and I apparently screwed up. Just found a 3.5 stars in the same area for $119 listed in PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. Probably the same hotel for less than what I bid. Everyone else posting is getting 4 star hotels for way less than what I paid. I have a lot to learn. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thereuare Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages. One thing that you may have done differently in your bidding is to lower your bid price when you lowered your star rating, as explained in this thread: If you lower your quality level, lower your price.Feel free to ask for help before your next opaque hotel purchase. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
pennypincher1 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 Thanks for the suggestion. I definitely did lower my price when I lowered the star level, however, I should have been more aggressive. Earlier in the week when I was bidding, I wasn't having any luck up to $125 at any star level. What I learned from this experience is that prices may change significantly everyday!
