petersoni Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but . . .I need to book a hotel in Copacabana March 2 to 4. The "Best Chance" option offers a 2* for $116. The similar hotels quote is the same price as the Rio Othon Palace ($323). This is the only other 2* property listed.I would love to book the Rio Othon Palace for this price, but I am concerned that there could be a "phantom" property that's not listed at 2* that I will get, and that it will be far away from everything. Can someone offer thoughts on the likelihood that this is the Rio Othon Palace?

thereuare Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks for closing this thread with your decision. In the future you should ignore the 'Best Chance' messages and zones as they're not reliable and shouldn't be used in developing a bidding strategy. Likewise, i would not use the 'median average rate' to try to determine the hotel you will receive as this too is not reliable in trying to determine which hotel you will receive. When using PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select. If there are some hotels in the zone that you're trying to avoid, then PRICELINE is not likely a good option for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com if you're looking to book thru non-opaque means.
