bwang Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Any recent sucessful bids at Hotel@MIT in Cambridge? I understand they are the only 4* in Cambridge - Brookline (let me know if I'm wrong).I need dates Sept 6 - 10 (4 nignts)I was hoping for under $100/night, but would be willing to go upto about $125 or so.Thanks!-Bill
thereuare Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 The Hotel@MIT is the only 4* that has been reported, but there could always be others in the zone that we don't yet know about and you could be the first to report it.At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read PRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I would bid as follows:Select 4* Cambridge...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Cambridge add re-bid zone2 add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100.If the above is rejected and you're willing to SPLIT YOUR BID, you may want to try again for the first three nites of your stay, as rates for the fourth nite is higher than the rest of your stay.Any questions feel free to ask.Let us know how it goes. bwang Posted August 30, 2005 Author Report Posted August 30, 2005 I haven't had any luck yet. Yesterday afternoon, I tried the following - all rejected! All are 4*9/6 - 9/10:Cambridge Bookline $75Cambridge + Somerville $85Logout,Cambridge + So. Boston $95Cambridge + Somerville + So. Boston $1059/6 - 9/9 (i.e. in effort to "split" bid, avoiding Friday night)Cambridge $75Cambridge + Somerville $85Then I thought I'd see if anything was in Downtown as similar prices (not as convenient a location for me):9/6 - 9/10:Downtown $85DT + Cambridge $90DT + Cambridge + Somerville $95DT + Cambridge + Somerville + So. Boston $100Any thoughts on my strategy??? I need to get to the Kendall T-stop area, so I was hoping for the Hotel@MIT.Thanks!Bill
thereuare Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 For your split stay, why did you stop at $85? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bwang Posted August 30, 2005 Author Report Posted August 30, 2005 I suppose with the taxes and all, that was how high I was willing to go facing the risk of having to move hotels in case the Friday was sold out or prohibitavely expensive.Any guess of how much higher I might have to go on the split strategy?-Thanks!!!!
thereuare Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 We have seen some acceptances at $125... but there is also a chance that there is no availability at all for the opaque suppliers.
