Do you think more will show up soon since it's in a week from now? Or that prices will go down in that week? Or am I better off just booking now?
AaronJB Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 This is really close to the "last minute" window of time - if there is something that you're interested in I'd suggest booking now. The Omni is a very nice property, but if you're interested in the Sax, I'd suggest that for half the price of the Omni and take the savings to use in the city (nice meals, museums, etc.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Location-wise, Omni is perfect, and I've stayed at another of their properties and really enjoyed it and I would get free WiFi and stuff because I'm a member. But then again, Sax is half the price. Do you have any insight about Hotel Sax?
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 The Sax was previously the House of Blues Hotel (the HOB is still across the street) and gets very good reviews on tripadvisor. While the Omni is on Michigan Ave, I don't think the Sax is that far of a walk to Michigan Ave and it's an easy walk to the wide variety of restaurants in the River North area.Wifi is $15 at the Sax (according to Expedia), but with $90+15 - $105 vs $185 at the Omni, $80 savings over 4 nights - $320 difference.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

yoyona Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 I booked it before I saw your answer and it did turn out to be the The Ivy :)
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this newer boutique property, in a really nice location. Smaller, more personalized property with only a few rooms on each floor. Glad you are pleased with the win.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
yoyona Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 Just a note, I called the hotel and asked about an upgrade to a King Suite (which is 675sq ft, double the standard queen room), and he quoted me $30/night extra. As of now, I don't think I'll be springing for it just because I won't be in the room enough to make it worthwhile.
AaronJB Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Thank you for the note - not a bad deal for an upgrade in the city, although personally I think the upgrades of most interest in Chicago are water view (river/lake)s at the hotels that offer them. Let us know if you have any city questions.Enjoy your stay.
