migraineboy Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Hi! I'm going to NY for the first time( I live in Brazil) and for my stay I would like to try to stay in a 4* hotel in the Manhattan area. Obviously I don't know the place, but for what I've read, it is recommended that I stay south of Upper East/West Side, so that excludes Harlem, Brooklin, Long and Coney Island. I'm a little worried because it's an 7 days stay and it's possible that I have to split. If necessary, of course I can do it, but I'd prefer not. My limit for the price range is $160/night (max $175) with taxes and fees. Do you think that I can do it? Is it to early to bid? Which, between the map limit that I've stablished, are the most recommended areas?Any tips would be very much appreciated.I understand the process of the rebidding zones and stuff.Best regards.
thereuare Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is Downtown/Financial an acceptable zone... it's not as centrally located as midtown (MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and MSG zones) but it's do-able at the right price (about a 20-25 minute subway ride to midtown). Please confirm the zones you're willing to accept, by price.lie name, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. I do think you have a chance at a midtown hotel for your complete stay if bidding up to $175/nite... but $160 will probably fall a little short (but we will certainly start low and gradually bid higher so that if anything is available at $160 or lower you won't over bid for it). Are you willing to bid up to $175 for your complete stay at this time OR do you prefer a lower bid limit and prefer to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID if you hit whatever current maximum bid you choose? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. migraineboy Posted February 21, 2013 Author Report Posted February 21, 2013 Hi! Thx for your answer.Well, I would consider Downtown/Financial as acceptable zone. Of course, the zones that I'd prefer though are exactly the ones that you've mentioned: MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and MSG.When you say that you think that I have a chance at a midtown hotel if bidding up to $175/nite are you talking about pre or post taxes price.I don't mind splitting my PRICELINE bid.Thank again.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 When you say that you think that I have a chance at a midtown hotel if bidding up to $175/nite are you talking about pre or post taxes price.Bid price... so before taxes and fees.Well, I would consider Downtown/Financial as acceptable zone. Of course, the zones that I'd prefer though are exactly the ones that you've mentioned: MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and MSG. I don't mind splitting my PRICELINE bid.So you have a lot of options and combinations here... what do you want to try first?-only you're preferred zones OR also include Downtown?-bidding 4* and up to $175?-if that is rejected do you then want to 1) include other zones (Downtown if not included previously) OR 2) split your dates while staying at the 4* level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. migraineboy Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 Well, lets do this: You can add to my preferred zones Chelsea, Soho and Downtown bidding 4* and up to $160and, like I've said I'm willing to split my dates while staying at the 4* levelI'm using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and will keep using it.Hotwire is showing me an 4-star Hotel in Downtown - SoHo - Financial District per $148 with the following amenities:Free Internet ; Smoke Free Rooms; Fitness Center (an additional charge may apply)Business Center (an additional charge may apply); Laundry Facilities (self-service) and High-Speed Internet Access (an extra charge may apply)Any guesses on that?
migraineboy Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 Well, I couldn't resist to the HOTWIRE offer. I've tryed to obtain a better rate through PRICELINE but it didn't happen, so I took my chances with the HOTWIRE.The Hotel is the Club Quarters, World Trade Center and I hope I like it. It wasn't my favorite area but it was a good price after all(I guess...)Thx for your support.
