AaronJB Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. This would likely be the Hotel Carter, which I would definitely not recommend. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? Are you only interested in TS, or would there be other zones of interest? (if so, which?)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Ancho84 Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 I second the non-recommendation of Hotel Carter. It looks horrible!
abullor Posted February 21, 2013 Author Report Posted February 21, 2013 Hi! Thanks for your reply. I'm looking for TS, and my budget is 150 per night...I also tought it is the Hotel Carter, but the site says "Get a 1 star hotel like:":Hotel Carter $137Metro Apartments $210Jets Motor Inn $159Maybe it is another?
thereuare Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 "A hotel like..." does not mean "It will be one of these hotels..."Even if not the Hotel Carter, this property is recommended by 50% of previous HOTWIRE guests, so do you want a 50/50 chance that you'll find the hotel acceptable? (and the 2.5/5.0 TA rating does add much support that it will be a favorable outcome)If you are still interested in this HOTWIRE offer you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.If you were going to take a chance on something i'd sooner take the 2.5* hotel in Times Square for $129/nite with Smoke Free, Free Internet, Bathroom Accessible. While this property has not yet been identified or reported to the board, it at least has a more respectable 3.5/5.0 TA rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. abullor Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 Hi!Where did you see that offer (TS - $129 per night 2.5*)? I'm looking for something like that!!!
AaronJB Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I'm seeing the same listing for $144 - you may see the same listing, but a slightly-to-moderately different price.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
abullor Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 I didn't mention it, but we are travelling with our baby (1 year old). In hotwire I can only put 2 years or more, and this is the reason why I don't see the offer. How do I know if a can go with my baby in a double room? Thanks in advance!
sachajl Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 You only have to specify if your child is 2 years or older. We're traveling to NYC with our 9 month old in May (she'll be 11 months then) and are selecting '0' kids in our search and you're right there are many more options then. We plan to call the hotel in advance (after booking) to request a crib. Most hotels will supply something akin to a pack-and-play but generally any 3 or 4 star hotel would have them on hand for such requests. If worst comes to worst, we can always have her sleep between us in the bed.Good luck!

thereuare Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 You have to be comfortable with whatever method you employ, but if it were me i would search HOTWIRE for just 2 adults since your child is below the age for which you need to 'declare'. After you win a hotel call the hotel to find out what room type you have and what sort of arrangements do they have to accommodate your child. While many hotels do have Pak N Plays, cribs, etc. in NYC it can be a different animal since many rooms are very small and might not accommodate an extra bed/crib/etc. If this is the case i would then call HOTWIRE and have them either straighten it out or cancel the reservation. I can't say how willing they will be to do so, but i think you'd have a very good argument since you 'declared' the correct number of guests as per the age requirements that they have stipulated. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
