deadesq Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Looked around at the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE offerings in this area, and I found a 4* on Hotwire for $111, no bidding, so I started at $105 for 4* on PRICELINE (using the link here) and got it right away. Two rooms at that price. Maybe I left $10 on the table, but the hotel's site has the rooms at $190/night, so I got nearly half off that for each room. I'm a little concerned about some of the TripAdvisor reviews of the place, but for the price, I don't think I'm going to find much better anywhere in Paris, let alone in this specific location. I know that it's tough for families in Paris, so I had resigned myself to either paying more for a large family room, or getting two rooms. I had hoped it would be the Le Méridien Etoile, but it's half a block from there. All in all, pretty happy with the win.
thereuare Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the deal and are looking forward to your trip. One thing to keep in mind when reading reviews, especially in an expensive city like Paris, is that the review is often based upon the value for the price paid. So for somebody paying $200+ per nite they may expect a lot and this hotel may fall short of their expectations and they write a negative review. Now take that same person and have only charged them $100/nite for the stay, their expectations may be less and their perception of the value they received may be drastically different, and under these circumstances for the same stay/experience they may have written a positive review.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
billboardBR Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Did you really want to get the Le Meridien Etoile? Google for "Le Meridien Etoile" + "hotwire"/"priceline", and read about hw/pl guests getting old/ugly rooms. I haven't read those kinds of comments of Concorde La Fayette. I think you got a nice one for Paris.
