billboardBR Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 Hi,I'm trying to get a good deal for paris from 04/27/13 to 05/02/13 for the specificareas: Eiffel Tower(preferred) or Champs Elysées and for a 4* rated hotel. Mybudget is around $100.I've done a search on hotwire, and got the specific result:4* North of Champs Elysées - Arc de TriompheAmmenities: Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in showerReading the forum hotwire hotel list, I believe this is Le Méridien Etoile.I intend to make my bids in priceline in order to get a better deal (and I have a link for a $10 cupom as well :)), but I'm afraidto try to get this hotel, because I've read a lot of comments about hotwire/priceline guest gettingold rooms (not only HW/PL guest, even SPG gold members!!) that are terrible (there is a possibility to ask/begfor a room upgrade, but...you don't know if you will get one....)Maybe I should wait more for getting better deals?ThanksLincoln

billboardBR Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 Hi,Besides my initial questions, I'm thinking about to bid for only one night (04/27 to 04/28)in order to see which hotel I will get... is there any good chances of extending the reservationfor more days?thanks!
thereuare Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 The extend your stay option is not shown for every purchase, and even when it is, it does not guarantee that you will be able to do so at the same rate, PRICELINE can respond with:1) you've successfully extended stay2) rooms are available to extend your stay but only at $xx more (you then have the option to extend at the higher rate or not)3) no rooms available to extend your stay at any priceThe BIGGER ISSUE however is that with PRICELINE you can only extend your stay for up to the same number of nites as your original reservation; so if you only bid for one nite you can only extend your stay for one additional nite... not for the additional 4 nites you need. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. billboardBR Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 Hi, thanks for the response. Could you help me with the questions of my first post?
thereuare Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 I'm not sure what question you're specifically referring to, but if you're not comfortable with receiving any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you're bidding then i wouldn't bid the zone.I do believe the hotel offered is likely the Le Meridien, so you have to ask yourself, even if not a perfect stay, would it be worth $xx (however much you intend to bid on PRICELINE or the HOTWIRE rate (currently $124/nite) if you intend to purchase as shown) relative to your other options for these dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do and if/how you'd like to proceed and we will take it from there.
