This could be a few different properties, including the Alex, Doubletree and Roosevelt - I'm guessing this is likely the Roosevelt or possibly the Doubletree.

Thanks for the information. Usually I go straight hotwire because I have two kids. Since it is just my wife and I this time, I may try PL to get a lower price. Any of those hotels sound fine to me. Based on the HW offer, would you suggest starting bidding at 90$ and then use my free bids upward? Also, if I get a win on PL, should I report the win in this thread (technically a hotwire thread, right).

If you are okay with potentially any of the 4*'s in MTE, I would suggest starting at $80 and working higher by $5's. $80 may be unlikely, but it's worth a try and you have time. Please let us know if you have any questions before bidding.

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

If the above is rejected just take the HOTWIRE offer, as this HOTWIRE offer is far below any other 4* hotel offered for these dates, i'd want to try the bidding as soon as possible to make sure that the $115 HOTWIRE rate doesn't disappear why you're trying for a lower price thru PRICELINE.

So the 4* in MTE on Hotwire went away when I was ready to book. I was bummed b/c I thought I could do pretty well with PL. Anyway, started at $120 and used free-rebids and got accepted at $140 per night at the Empire Hotel. I'm pleased. Haven't stayed on that side of town before and the hotel looks nice. The best I could get online was ~190.00. There is one 4* in CPW on HW and that goes for $159. So pretty happy!

As usual, I used the PRICELINE link on the BB site.

Since I'm not familiar with that part of town, any ideas in terms of restaurants? Good value and good eats?

Glad to see you're pleased with the results and looking forward to trying out a new area.

Not really my neck of the woods either but:

Carmines UES - not the most gourmet meal but always fun time. Portions are HUGE and meant to be served family style, so typically best with a large group.

Chicken and Rice Food Cart - i know, it's "just a cart" but you mentioned value, and this is the best $6 dinner you can get in the city. You want the cart on the SOUTHEAST corner of 53rd and Sixth Ave and after 7:30pm.

. Always a line as the white sauce and hot sauce are what make this dish so sought after.

Arriba Arriba - (762 Ninth Avenue) reasonably prices Mexican that is decent enough when i'm in the area (although admittedly i haven't been here in awhile... at least 2+ years). Service was always hit-or-miss but the food was always solid and the margaritas is what kept me coming back.

Plenty of other options along Ninth Ave in Hells Kitchen as well as the high-end Steak Houses (not a great value unless you appreciate a quality steak) in the low 50's between Sixth and Seventh Ave... but also just as easy to get out of the immediate area.

If the weather happens to be nice, this hotel does have a VERY NICE roof top bar that has some nice views and is worth a visit.
