Keith B Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Would like to get a 3 or 4 star hotel in the Chelsea area for February 22nd to 25th for as little as possible (<$80 preferred). A friend I will be visiting lives in Chelsea, so I would like to stick with just that neighborhood.Doing a search on the your Priceline map I show the following results:4.0* Hotel Indigo Chelsea New York - range: $88-$88 - Friday 2/8/133.0* Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhatten Chelsea West - range: $65-$110 - Saturday 2/5/13Could someoone recommend a bidding strategy that would work for that weekend in Chelsea based on this info? I'm definitely a n00b at this stuff and dont want to accidentally book something accross town by selecting the wrong options during a rebid. Please let me know if you require any addiitonal details and thanks in advance for your help! :)Keith
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! The dates in your post are different from those in your topic title, can you please clarify the correct check-in/check-out dates for this trip?Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for a 3* hotel or better in this zones as based upon current prices i'm doubtful that $80 will be enough for these dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Keith B Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 Oops... my travel dates are correct in the subject, Friday 2/22 to Sunday 2/24.Searched the link posted and it showed the Wyndham Gardens in Chelsea for $143/night... this hotel or the Indigo would be perfect for me location-wise. Is there a method to estimating the hotel's NYOP price based on the search results?$80 is not a hard limit, just a swag given the other winning bids in Feb... just need to go as cheap as possible without the risk or roaches/bedbugs!Got a week and half till I need the room... what would you recommend I try bidding to hopefully get the best deal?Your help is greatly appreciated! :)Thanks!Keith
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 When bidding 3* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Chelsea...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78If the above is rejected i'd increase each bids by $5 every 24 hours ($80/$83, $85/$88, etc, etc) until you reach your maximum bid where it may pay to book a hotel direct.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck!
