Wanted something close to the airport since we were flying out the next day. Tried the "Miami International Airport" zone, but couldn't get a 4* or 3.5* below $110 (or cut-off).We got excited when we saw others had gotten the Doral Golf Resort & Spa for ~$65-$70. We won it for $70 (Sunday, February 10th, 2013). The grounds were beautiful, the staff was very friendly. The room was fantastic, very large, great bathroom (two sinks, both a shower & tub) and there was an amazing view of the golf course. However, upon check-out we were shocked to find out that there was a $20 "resort" fee (per day) that was not optional! Most importantly, we were not advised of this fee when checking in, nor did we sign anything that indicated that we approved this fee (which other "paying" guests do). Apparently there was a notification on Priceline (after we won the resort), but neither of us noticed it. After ~15 min of arguing, they FINALLY took it off the bill.I think the $70 + $20 = $90 total price would have still been good for this property. However, the "hidden" mandatory resort fee left us with a bad final impression. It felt like they were trying to sucker us with the low initial price and then charge "extras" to make up for the short-fall. BE CAREFUL! Also, while we were checking out, two guests came up to the front desk to complain about incorrect/additional charges that had been added to their bill. By the way, the resort is ~15 min from the airport with no traffic, but ~30 min with traffic.
