RaphX Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 First time bidder, first time in NYC on my March 15, for 2 nights.I've read the FAQs about bidding but can't figure out a bidding strategy. So any help would be appreciated.I was thinking to stay in ESB (would be my 1st choice), MSG or Chelsea area (we have some plans that are spreaded across LES, FD, TS, Meatpacking District, ESB), so it looks more central to me and we can pass by the hotel room during the day to drop stuff if needed. But I'm open to suggestion on other area.I would like 3.5+ for the lowest that I can pay. Thanks for your help
thereuare Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Generally speaking MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and MSG-Chelsea all work well for the average user, but at the 3.5* and lower you need to be aware that:CPS - had the Hudson hotel, which while located, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)MTE - some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subwayLet us know which zones you'd like to bid, as well as your maximum bid (so we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher then you're willing to pay), and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. RaphX Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 In order of preference ESB, MSG-Chelsea and MTW. Hopefully, below 160$ + tx (but if the current price are higher, I will extend the budget to whatever it takes)Thanks
thereuare Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 In order of preference...Are you willing to pay more to stay in the ESB zone vs. the MSG zone vs. the MTW zone... OR is price ultimately the deciding factor and your goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better in any of these zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. RaphX Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 I would be willing to pay this amount for ESB and MSG. Less if MTW. But since I don't know what the rates are in this period, I'm willing to adjust my price for better chance of winning.
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 I would be willing to pay this amount for ESB and MSG. Less if MTW.So how high would you be willing to bid for any of these three zones, and then how much higher for just ESB or MSG?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. RaphX Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 If my price range is good, I would like to go $160 (taxes not included) for ESB and MSG, and I would say $140 for MTW.Since I'm not familiar with price ranges, if it's way out, let me know, I will reassess. Thanks
