Sam500 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 First time I have used Priceline for hotel bidding. Took 4 attempts. I did originally opt for 4 stars, and lower than $200. While I realise I may have got a better price bidding closer to May, I just wanted to get the accommodation part sorted. I welcome any comments.
Sam500 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 I understand that Hotwire lets you specify how many adults you want in the room, whereas Priceline does it differently and always gives you a room that will accommodate 2.As I am travelling alone, should I have used Hotwire or doesn't it really matter? I just wanted to make sure that Priceline deals weren't higher for assuming everyone is travelling as a couple.
thereuare Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing your win with the board.I have edited your topic title to indicate that you won the Holiday Inn on 57th St, which is in the Central Park South zone... is this the Holiday Inn that you won? If not, can you please provide the address of that hotel that you did receive. No problem using PRICELINE for single occupancy. Occasionally (could be read rarely) you'll find a hotel that is cheaper for single occupancy vs. double occupancy, but this is more the exception then the rule. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Sam500 Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 Thanks for your response about Priceline VS Hotwire when booking for one person.Yes that is the address. Just curious if you consider the price I got as good for that part of New York. Thank you
AaronJB Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 I'm seeing a $250 rate on Expedia for these dates, so not a bad savings, especially considering the longer stay.Enjoy your stay.
Sam500 Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 Thank you. I have to say I've already learned a valuable lesson out of all this, which will come in handy for future. That is, not to assume that bidding will necessarily bring the best price. Some of the deals via HOTWIRE (without any bidding required) are outstanding. Others may disagree.
