AaronJB Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 There have been very few PRICELINE Express deals reported to the board. Additionally, these amenities are fairly common - The Sheraton, Marriott Mag Mile, Hyatt Mag Mile and W would be among the possibilities. The Sheraton and Hyatt (the one on St Clair, not the one on Wacker) would seem like more likely possibilities. Is there something in particular you're looking for in terms of hotel? Additionally, let us know if you have any city questions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jamzmom Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 Thanks for the reply. We are just going to be there for one evening. Looking to go out to a nice dinner and stay for one night. Celebrating my 40th with my husband.... don't need a huge party place just a "fancier" hotel room on a budget (we have 4 kids so that is why I am doing research to get the best hotel for the best deal). We are going to park outside of Chicago and take the train in to LaSalle Station. There are lots to choose from on hotwire.com. We are going tomorrow night (February 10th). So, any advice would be appreciated. Again, just a fancier hotel for a night out on a budget....... Very much appreciate it!!
AaronJB Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Let me take a look around and I will post back in a bit with what I find in terms of options. In the meantime, please post if you have any city questions. The Metra trains are very nice and are a comfortable way to see the outlying areas as you head into the city.Do you have a particular style you like/max budget?Actually, I'm seeing some interesting options on the regular rate side, as well, although they are moderately higher than the HOTWIRE listings.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AaronJB Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 First, regular rate:$90 MileNorth Hotel (Expedia). This is a well-reviewed boutique right off Michigan Ave, near the center of the Michigan Ave. shopping area. This was previously the Affinia Chicago. This is a 48-hr sale at 90% off and a larger, studio room. This property is rarely seen on the discount services.$109 Amalfi (Expedia). This is a terrific boutique property in the nightlife/restaurant-heavy River North area. Free breakfast on each floor. Evening reception is also offered. This property has only been seen a few times in the last few years - it's not something that would be expected on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.Higher up are the Dana ($119), Monaco ($127, a very nice Kimpton boutique by the River) and the very new and very small Ivy ($129) - all Expedia. HOWEVER: I still think the Amalfi with breakfast is a very nice value boutique for $109.HOTWIRE:Potential Intercontinental $90. This is a historic property with a rather fascinating history right on Michigan Ave, a block or two North of the River, so very central location. What may be the Westin, Sheraton or W Lakeshore - $75.Potential Doubletree Mag Mile - $64.Possible Omni or Sofitel - $101.Potential Palmer, Hard Rock or W City Center - $74.If you choose PRICELINE, then that will be cheaper than HOTWIRE but requires a lot more flexibility on where you may end up.Let us know if any of the above are of interest and we would be happy to point them out on HOTWIRE. Additionally, let us know if you have any questions before bidding/buying.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jamzmom Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 Wow. Thanks so much for the info. I will definitely look this over tonight. I so appreciate your help. Your first one sounds very nice. The one from Expedia. Do you know if you can park overnight at the metro stations. Looking at parking at mokena near Joliet? Again, I truly thank you and will book thru your site.
AaronJB Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 You cannot park at Metra stations overnight as far as I know. The amount of available parking at each station varies (some stations have very little, some have lots, some primarily have street parking, etc) and unfortunately, there aren't a ton of overnight garages/lots in the suburbs. If you are coming in from the South and parking somewhere around Joliet or Oak Brook, what I would do is call the city:http://www.mokena.org/http://www.cityofjoliet.info/There is a discussion of overnight parking on the city of Joliet website here:http://www.cityofjoliet.info/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=1825However, you may want to call the number on that page for the city just to confirm.Thank you for using the site's Expedia, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
