coryandcarissa Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 We have a quick overnight layover in Miami on 4/10/13. I am used to having lots of free rebids to work with, but since I am bidding at 3* or above, I am limited to the Miami Airport zone (I do not want to include the Airport - Doral Zone, because I'd like to avoid the Trump hotel with the extra $20 resort fee and NO airport shuttle which has been a popular win as of late). Since I kind of have to hit the nail on the head with this bid, what would you suggest for my bid(s) with a time progression strategy as we get closer? I bid $55 today with no luck, but this didn't come as a surprise (used the betterbidding PRICELINE link to attempt my win). The PRICELINE EXPRESS deals available for those dates are as follows:2* = $652.5 * = $793* = $793.5* = $964* = $89Thanks so much for your input!
thereuare Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 With no re-bid zones available there really isn't too much of a strategy you can use... given your $55 rejection today i would try every 24 hours using $58, $60, $63, $65, $68, $70, etc. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Keep us updated on your progress and let us let us know if we can be of further help along the way. bmw745ion19s Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 HOTWIRE is showing a $100 4-star with free shuttle listed in your area for your dates. I dont use your strategy of changing * Ratings usually when I bid but I'd pay the $10 more since the free shuttle is important to you and have peace of mind that its done and scheduled. hope this helps!
coryandcarissa Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 Just wanted to post an update/conclusion. Was bidding regularly over the last several weeks - ranging in bids as low as $55, as high as $68, and everything in between with no success (for a 3 star). Decided to book the Comfort Suites Miami N in Miami Springs for $98 for the night. It is a new hotel with excellent Tripadvisor ratings, has a free 24 hour airport shuttle, and an ample free breakfast. Will be extra nice to not have to forage for overpriced airport food with the kids. Unless I see the Priceline MIA Airport market start coming up with some stellar deals, I'll probably stay the course with the Comfort Suites. Thanks as always - started all my bidding attempts through the BetterBidding Link.
