I saw here the following winning bids for Union Square West: $96 (1/3 - 1/5), $111 (1/18 - 1/19), and $100 (2/16 - 2/17). My unsuccessful bids (over the course of a week) started at $80 (using additional areas to increase bid) and are now at $133. Is it because the low winning bids were for the weekend? Should I just be patient and start over in a week or so?

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? Below you will find a website to check out your dates of travel vs conventions (scroll to the bottom of the website an input your selected dates). Also, to give you an idea of the 28,000 in size, we went to SF last Sept during the Oracle conference (which ranks in at 47,000) and it was miserable!!! There were so many people you could not even walk on the sidewalks -- and forget about the cable cars. Hope this helps! ptepa Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 Aaron - Thanks for your response. I will be in SF March 12-14. Last year I used Priceline and got the Hotel Nikko for $145/night. In 2011 I got the Clift Hotel for $125/night. I would like to stay in the range of $125 - $150 so I still have a way to go. I will be back trying again this morning.Smantha - Thanks for your response too! I Googled tradeshows and conferences in SF for March back in January but did not come across the Website you listed. It looks like the tradeshow you reported will be over the day I get there, phew!
ptepa Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 I got the Clift Hotel for $139.00. Started last week at $80.00 and did the usual drill, added an area and increased my bid. The room I had when I stayed there in 2011 (winning bid of $125.00) was small but the staff was nice and location is convenient to my meetings so I am pleased.
