jkavits Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 I'm new to hotel bidding and I'm looking for some help on my upcoming trip to NYC. I'm looking for somewhere in Times Square- Theater District, Midtown East, or Midtown West. I saw some people were winning bids for The Benjamin for under 100 a night and that's a pretty decent hotel. I'm looking to bid under 110, the lower the better. I don't plan on spending a lot of time in my room but I do want somewhere that's going to at least be clean! Is anyone super familiar with Priceline's NYC deals that could get me a good strategy. I don't have a lot of money to work with and the more I save the more I can spend while I'm actually there! Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Benjamin for under a Benjamin does not seem very likely for these dates, but i do think that you can get a 4* hotel in one of the zones you mentioned (TS, MTE, MTW) for $110 or less. If you're willing to accept any 4* hotel in one of these zones i would try as follows:When bidding 4* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and TS...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW and TS...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110Any questions (especially regarding confirming your re-bid zones if you're new to the subject matter) feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. jkavits Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 Hi, I'm back! So I totally blew my shot at what I'm pretty sure was the Dream midtown for $108 last week and now I'm scouting out a similar deal. Naming my price didn't work out for me at all. I got up to 120 and still couldn't get a deal in midtown! I see Expedia has a hidden 3* Times Square for $93 right now. Any guesses on what it might be? As far as 1 day sales go... is that something that gets offered to new customers? That was where I got my deal that I passed on. I just registered a different email address. Should I expect to see some crazy savings tomorrow? Thanks! You've been so helpful so far!
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 One Day Sales are just marketing campaigns designed to get you to visit the site and do your search again... and apparently it works. ;)I don't know the Expedia hotel offered but if you do go for that please use the board's link to get to Expedia (also found in our Support Page) but will add that i don't think you're far off from a 4* hotel... another $5-$10 should be enough given current prices i'm seeing. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
