txelle05 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I am hoping to get a 4* in the Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium or Financial District for 4/25 - 4/28. There is a HOTWIRE hot Rate right now for a 4.5* in the Quincy Market - Financial District that is $238/night. I believe it is the InterContinental, which is what I really want, but if I can get something in those 2 areas for cheaper, I would do it. I was bidding last night, and I think I went up to $210. Didn't get it (obviously) and didn't get any counteroffers. Any help is appreciated! Oh, and I am using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links provided.
thereuare Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 On HOTWIRE I'm currently seeing a 4* hotel in the Quincy Market-Financial District for $199 (less then you have already bid) with:Free Internet Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Roll-in Shower ... my guess for this property is either the Liberty Hotel or Kimpton's Onyx Hotel.Would this work for your needs? If so, we could lower your maximum bid to even less then you have already bid... or if you like these likely outcomes you can just take the HOTWIRE offer.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. txelle05 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Posted February 6, 2013 Those 2 hotels aren't really in my preferred area. It is kind of confusing switching between Hotwire and Priceline areas, but I definitely prefer the Priceline boundaries for Financial District and Harbor Front. We have friends staying at the InterContinental, so that is the reason for the preference. We are trying to stay closer to that. I appreciate your help!
thereuare Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 No problem... we'll use your $235 maximum then, i just wanted to make sure that you didn't overbid if the above were acceptable. When bidding 4* in Boston you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Harbor Front...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $218, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Financial...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $218, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Harbor Front and Financial...Bid $223, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $228, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $233, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $235Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. txelle05 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Report Posted February 7, 2013 I ended up taking the HOTWIRE deal for $234/night. I tried the bidding strategy, but in the end, if I was going to pay $235 I would rather be where I wanted! The Hotwire hotel did end up being the InterContinental so I'm pretty happy about that! Thanks again for your help! I will post this on the Hotwire page.
txelle05 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Report Posted February 7, 2013 Definitely an expensive weekend but this is the hotel I really wanted! Got it for a savings of $175.
