mell312 Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 Used Better Bidding to plan a trip to San Francisco a little over a year ago and am back to plan a trip on short notice to NYC. Need help identifying this hotel:4* Midtown East 2/22 - 2/2585% recommendedFitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower My guesses are the Intercontinental Barclay or the Roosevelt, but didn't know if any of you pros might see something that makes you more certain than my guesses. If Barclay, I think I might jump on it. Otherwise I'll likely use the PRICELINE link and try my hand there as I've seen a few Barclay and Waldorf bookings around my price range. Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Are you still seeing this listing? If so, how many people are you searching for? I'm not seeing it when searching for two adults this evening.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mell312 Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Bummer... its gone. It's been on there for several days at a rate of $98 a day. Back to looking or might go Priceline instead.

mell312 Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Same listing is back up at a slightly higher rate ($111). Any guesses now?
footie123 Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Just curious.. Regarding the statement "My guesses are the Intercontinental Barclay or the Roosevelt, but didn't know if any of you pros might see something that makes you more certain than my guesses. If Barclay, I think I might jump on it. Otherwise I'll likely use the PRICELINE link and try my hand there as I've seen a few Barclay and Waldorf bookings around my price range." Is something wrong with the Roosevelt that you wouldn't take it?
mell312 Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Is something wrong with the Roosevelt that you wouldn't take it?Both hotels look nice and I'd ultimately be happy with either, but I've had good experiences with Intercontinental hotels which is why I'd prefer that one of the two. I'd by no means be disappointed with the Roosevelt. Two reasons I'd lean towards Priceline...I'd love to stay at the Waldorf and I've seen at least one person post recently that they've gotten it on Priceline in the my price range and near my dates. Second reason...I like the Central Park South bidding area (which doesn't include the Waldorf) because I'm looking forward to being able to get in my morning runs weather permitting in the park and the closer I am the less time I waste getting there. So if I go Priceline I have to decide between shooting in the dark for the Waldorf or going for CPS. Any of the 4* hotels though in those areas look great and I know I'll enjoy whatever I end up with. Will likely jump on this Hotwire listing or do some Priceline bidding today depending on what feedback I get on the above listing. 2 1/2 weeks to go until my trip! Can't wait!
thereuare Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 The Doubletree Metropolitan would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mell312 Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Thanks for your help! If the Doubletree is what you think, I think I'll avoid HOTWIRE as I can book that hotel directly for $129 a night and I'd like to see a little better deal than that. Going to try my hand at PRICELINE this evening.
thereuare Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 You may want to avoid this particular HOTWIRE listing, but i wouldn't write-off HOTWIRE all together, as sometimes the deals are better then others.Good luck with your bidding tonite, and and if you'd like help with a bidding strategy let us know your desired star rating, which zone(s) you're willing to accept, and your maximum bid... we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
