Best guess for the 3.5* would be the Melia Atlanta... i don't have a guess for the 3* property.

With my wife and son sharing the room, I am concerned that they may only give a room with a single double bed and not one with two doubles.

Need to think a bit about this...

You can try searching for triple/quad occupancy which should ensure separate sleeping accommodations.... although the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.

Another option is to search PRICELINE EXPRESS where many of the offers have been showing a 'Bed Choice' option, which when shown would allow you to ensure two beds before your purchase.

Ended up getting the two night stay at 4 star Renaissance Hotel , midtown Atlanta for $100/night through PRICELINE bidding.
