HI,

I need help with the bidding. I have been trying to bid a 4* hotel in Midtown west, midtown, west, time square, Madison Square Garden - Convention Area and Empire State Building Area. The price has been increased from $100 to $135. It hasn't been successful.

Please advise!

Thank you very much!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

Note above you listed MTW twice... should one of these be MTE or did you not bid MTE at all and accidentally listed MTW twice?

Seasonally April is an expensive time of year in NYC and i'm not that surprised that $135 has not yet been successful. Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 4* hotel in one of these zones thru conventional booking channels? (try searching within 1 mile of 'Times Square New York City' as the default 5 miles at MAPS and HOTELS.com will likely yield too many results and too wide of a net given how compact NYC is)

You'll likely need to raise your budget, lower your star rating, and/or consider other zones such as Downtown. You may also benefit from SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but not sure if you want to consider the option of changing hotels this early before your trip.

Sorry, typo it is supposed to be MTE.

I tried again with chealsea, soho and downtown area but still no luck. I did split my bidding as well.

Thank you. I think I will try again tomorrow.

How high did you bid with the newly added zones... still $138?

I did not increase much. I put $140. The cheapest rate from MAPS AND HOTELS is $206 for a 4 star. Do you think I should wait till it get closer? or how much should I put?

Thank you!

Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, but i can add that you're into the Spring season where rates start to spike upwards.

At current prices i think you're likely looking at $165-$185 for a 4* hotel.
