nboston Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Hi, We're a group of 6 adults that needs 2 rooms in NYC 9/2-9/5 in any of the usual tourist spots (which I guess would meanMidtown East/Central/South or Times Square on hotwire or MTE/MTS/MTW/UP-CPS on priceline) but any decent placeon Manhattan would probably work. It seems with it being the long weekend and everything that availability is extremely tight.Hotwire shows 1 property for $222/night that is 4 star, and amenities: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center. Any ideawhat hotel this is and how this property measures up?Any suggestions of other properties we could look at? Priceline doesn't seem to be a good option with only guaranteedoccupancy for 2 adults/room, but if we could get a good deal this way, we might opt for it.Our per night per room budget is $240 but obviously we would like to go much cheaper than that and would prefer $160/night.Thanks
thenewbie Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 You will need to search: 9/2 - 9/5 -- 2 Rooms -- 3 People4* MTE Customer Favorite! Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Tennis Nearby, Business Center$175This appears to be the Grand Hyatt New York
nboston Posted August 26, 2005 Author Report Posted August 26, 2005 Is that 3 people total or 3 people per room when you search 2 rooms, 3 adults on hotwire?thanks
thereuare Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Actually you would need to search for 6 people and 2 rooms... but you will see that doing so only reveals one hotel for these dates. Just for comparison puproses re-run the search for 6 people and 3 rooms and you'll see how many hotels can't handle (or don't want) more than double occupancy in the room. You could get a 1BR suite at the Beekman Tower for $215/nite. There is only one bed in the bedroom but there is a pull-out couch in the living room... don't know how this would work for your needs. If the $225/nite thru Hotwire above is your best deal i would sooner try first for 3 rooms thru priceline... with a $150 (or higher?) maximum bid.Let us know how you want to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
