joeysarsenal Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Hi All,Looking for some advice on were to stay. There is 6 guys and we would prefer rooms with 2 in each, and queen beds if possible.Would you recommend staying in Times square or a suburb just out.Appreciate any help i get Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. The issue with NYC is that rooms are smaller-than-average and in some cases much smaller-than-average (some rooms at the 3.5-4* level are as small as 130-150 sq ft, with no room to fit a rollaway.) Rooms via PRICELINE only guarantee 1 bed, and while one can request two beds, there's a very high risk of only getting one bed in NYC.HOTWIRE is a better choice, as if you indicate more than 2 people in each room, you should get some form of bedding for the entire party (may be 2 beds or 1 + rollaway, etc.)How many rooms are you looking forward to and what would be your desired star rating/budget (in USD$) per room/per night? What zone/s would be acceptable - what are some of the things you are planning on doing during your stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

joeysarsenal Posted January 27, 2013 Author Report Posted January 27, 2013 Done. :)Looking for either.2 rooms that fit 3 people or 3 rooms that fit 2 people not sure on our budget maybe 90-100USD a night? Please let me know if that unreasonably's low.
AaronJB Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Unfortunately, $90-100 is really mainly possible in NYC during the slowest parts of the year (Jan/Feb and most of March.) In terms of 3 people per room for 2 rooms, what appears to be the Holiday Inn Midtown on 57th is the cheapest 3* for $174 on HOTWIRE. In terms of bidding on PRICELINE for Midtown, you're likely looking at $135-155.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
joeysarsenal Posted January 27, 2013 Author Report Posted January 27, 2013 Would that be each person to have there own bed?Im fine with the holiday inn as our stay.In terms of only having two people to each room is is the $100 a bit short? i guess we could stretch if it needed.
thereuare Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Would that be each person to have there own bed?Which offer?Im fine with the holiday inn as our stay. Are you fine with the $175/nite price tag for this property? This would be per room... if you want to ensure each person has their own bed then you would need THREE ROOMS... if some are willing to sleep two per bed then you could get TWO ROOMS.In terms of only having two people to each room is is the $100 a bit short? i guess we could stretch if it needed. As mentioned above, sub-$100 isn't typically seen in NYC except for the slowest of times, which this is not one of those times.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joeysarsenal Posted January 27, 2013 Author Report Posted January 27, 2013 Looks like ill need 3 rooms then.$175 per night will have to do, how is the place for location in your opinion? What's next to go about getting the best deal i can?
thereuare Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Location-wise it's not the best, but it's certain do-able... about a 3-4 block walk to Columbus Circle where you can catch the subway if you don't want to make the 15 minute walk to Times Square. If you search HOTWIRE for 3rooms/6adults/6children you should see a 3* hotel offered in the MTC zone for ~$175/nite with:Free Internet Fitness Pool Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... best guess for this property is the Holiday Inn 57th St.You're searching for 6adults/6children in order to increase the number of guests to to quad occupancy per room, which should provide two separate sleeping accommodations in each room. While this usually means two beds in the room, note that the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed or a rollaway brought into the room.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. AaronJB Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. What is the room rate of each in US Dollars?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches

joeysarsenal Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 What do you think of hell's kitchen as a location? Also would i be selecting 6 adults/6 children to ensure 2 beds in each room?
thereuare Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 There is no Hell's Kitchen zone on HOTWIRE, only on PRICELINE, and with PRICELINE there is no way to select adults/children in order to ensure more then one bed in each room since all rooms are PRICELINE 'name your own price' rooms are designated as 'double occupancy' (which could mean only one bed in the room)Unless you're able to find anything on PRICELINE EXPRESS in this zone that shows the 'Bed Choice' option and is within your budget. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joeysarsenal Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 On Expedia, the belverder hotel is listed as being near Hells kitchen. On HOTWIRE is there no way to ensure double bedding?
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 On Expedia, the belverder hotel is listed as being near Hells kitchen. The zone names, and boundaries, shown on Expedia have nothing to do with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Each service can use their own names and/or zone boundaries within their own service. As noted above, HOTWIRE does not have a 'Hells Kitchen Zone'... most of PRICELINE's definition of Hells Kitchen is included on HOTWIRE's "Chelsea - Madison Square Garden" zone.On HOTWIRE is there no way to ensure double bedding?See previous replies below:HOTWIRE is a better choice, as if you indicate more than 2 people in each room, you should get some form of bedding for the entire party (may be 2 beds or 1 + rollaway, etc.)You're searching for 6adults/6children in order to increase the number of guests to to quad occupancy per room, which should provide two separate sleeping accommodations in each room. While this usually means two beds in the room, note that the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed or a rollaway brought into the room.To ensure two beds in the room you have two choices:HOTWIRE searching for quad occupancy, but noting that the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.PRICELINE EXPRESS and choose a hotel that shows the 'Bed Choice' option... the room is still booked for only double occupancy, so if trying to for quad occupancy it could still potentially be an issue (although i would call the chances very low), but this should be a good option if only two people in the room but the two people each want their own bed.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joeysarsenal Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 Can we explore both options.I would prefer to take the 2 beds per room X 3, but would also like to explore 2 doubles and a roll-away.As you can probably tell im pretty clueless with this sort of stuff.
joeysarsenal Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 on PRICELINE EXPRESS spotted this.4 Star Hotel in Midtown East Area for $196/nightGuaranteed Amenities: RestaurantBusiness CenterBed Choice AvailableThinking it might be the Roosevelt, Whats your opinion on the location?
thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 on PRICELINE EXPRESS spotted this.4 Star Hotel in Midtown East Area for $196/nightGuaranteed Amenities: RestaurantBusiness CenterBed Choice AvailableI'm not seeing this property when searching for 3 rooms... if you are still seeing this when searching for 3 rooms, if you click the "choose" option is it still showing as available? ...but would also like to explore 2 doubles and a roll-away.To clarify, the HOTWIRE option does not provide two beds and a rollaway, it ensures sleeping accommodations for 4 people, which can be:2 beds in the room1 bed and a pullout sofabed1 bed and a rollaway brought into the room(not your choice... the hotel's choice)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 I see this property now...You see that to get a room with two beds will cost you at least $218+ which is more than double your original budget of $90-$100/room... is everyone in your group OK with this? Some guesses for this PRICELINE EXPRESS property would be the Alex, W New York, or Doubletree Metropolitan. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide and how it goes OR how you'd like to move forward.
