Priceline Hotel: 4* ESB or MTE 5/13-5/16

I have tried from 150$ up to 180$ for ESB 5/13/2013 to 5/16/2013, no luck. I think I would like to avoid MTW because of the Sheraton. Many people reported rooms with thin walls so you can hear A LOT from your neighbours. I am also not sure if MTE is a safe choice because of that doubletree (appears more like a 3.5 to me). Others in MTW and MTE seem very promising, though.

Alright, do you think a win within the 180$ limit is realistic in ESB? My maximum bid because of the high prices in May is 200$/night, but only after I have failed several times at $180 ;)

Do you think that it would be cheaper to try a 4* in Soho or Chelsea (anytime in the period 5/13-5/19)?

I am opening a third thread for the remaining three nights 5/16-5/19 once I have started bidding for them. I would like to settle the first three nights before bidding for the second three nights.

Thanks for your help and for the fun I have with the bidding (and winning  )

You can, and should, try... but at current prices i don't think that $180 will likely be enough for a 4* hotel in the ESB zone.

The cheaper weekend nites may bring your total cost for the complete stay... why not try bidding all acceptable zones for your complete stay before consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID? Are you not bidding TS and/or CPS?

There are hotels in TS and CPS I would like to avoid. TS seems to be extremely busy and loud, I am trying to avoid that. So I prefer MTE and ESB.

And yes, I have considered bidding for all 6 nights but somehow it appeals to me to be in two different places in the city (including my already won Marriott it will be three). And if one hotels turns out to be disappointing I might still be lucky and happy with the other one. Spreading the risk ;)

Thank you very much for helping me, I will keep you updated as soon as I win something!

I'm not currently seeing either of these properties offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?

The 4* MTE property i'm seeing is priced at $265/nite and has different amenities then the hotel you listed above... and i'm not seeing any 3* hotel offered in the Chelsea-MSG zone for your dates.

At the 4* level, unfortunately, there's nothing showing on HOTWIRE for $200 or less. In terms of bidding, I think you're likely looking at $215-235 (and possibly higher depending on the zone) for a 4* in NYC for these dates. I'm guessing you could get a 3.5* for $200 or moderately under depending on the zone, but in MTE a couple of the 3.5*'s are out of the way (far E in MTE) and in CPS, one 3.5* has particularly small (120-130 sq ft or so) rooms. Would that be okay - or did you want to bid higher for a 4*?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

hello,

thanks for all your help. Unfortunately I didn't find anything suitable for under 220$ bidding on priceline. So I ended up with the Wyndham Long Island City for $115 a night for the rest of my stay. Worked well - nice rooms, quiet and good connection with underground to Manhattan.
