thereuare Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 For the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals my guess for the 3* property would be the Hyatt Place Atlanta Galleria... for the 3.5* my guess would be the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria... for the 4* i'd guess the Sheraton. For the HOTWIRE hotel, did you accidentally delete Free Parking from the amenity list? Also, Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Pool Business Golf Tennis Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped ParkingIf so, and Free Parking should be included in the list, then my best guess would be the Country Inn and Suites Buckhead. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. hopeland Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I am leaning towards hotel 1 but as we will have a car and free parking is always good. Just don't know how far it might be to Turner Field and whether it is easy to get there on public transit from the Galeria areaJust FYI, but the Galleria area is not convenient to Turner Field at all. There is no convenient or even reasonable public transportation option between the two, and after a game there probably isn't an option at all.You probably will need to limit your search to Downtown Atlanta and Midtown Atlanta zones if you want to be near Turner Field or to transit.
Dunworkin Posted February 9, 2013 Author Report Posted February 9, 2013 Ok took your advice and went PRICELINE Auction and got a 4* in downtown Atlanta for a $60 bid. It turned out to be the Marriott Atlanta Marquis, 265 Peachtree Center Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303. It looks like a nice place though typical of 4*s they want to nickle and dime you for Internet, etc. I think we are close to public transit here to allow us to get down to Turner Field no problem. cheers

Dunworkin Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 Ok, spent two nights at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta and it was a good deal for the $60 PRICELINE bid that was accepted. As per the norm for a 4*, parking was $20/day, internet was $15/ day and there was no breakfast. The room was very nice and had a coffee maker but for the most part we got coffee at the Starbucks in the lobby. The hotel turned out to be perfect for us as we had no car, were able to use the free WIFI in the lobby and were about to walk 5 minutes to the local Marta station to get to Turner Field for the game on the Braves Shuttle. The hotel was gearing up to be the media hotel for the NCAA championship that weekend and we were glad to get out of there before all that madness ensued. We were told that the rooms there were going for $700/night that weekend so we feel we got a super deal. We were pleased with the hotel for the price we paid and able to work around the 4* add-on pricing PITA problem so all is good.
