Ancho84 Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Hello.I recently purchased tickets to Chicago and I am looking for suggestions for our stay. I would like to stay around the downtown area or near and looking for suggestions. Would likean inexpensive 4* or 3.5* My dilemma is whether or not I should rent a car. And if I do rent one I would like to avoid paying parking fees. Do I really need a car?. Saturday March 9 to Tuesday March 12, arriving at midway. We don't have any defined plans as of now but museums shopping and dining would be in there.
AaronJB Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 If you are flying into Chicago, then I would suggest NOT renting a car. It will only result in hassle and significant added expense - parking at hotels downtown is $45-55 a night at hotels. There is no need to drive around downtown - it's very easy to get around via walking or public transit. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Ancho84 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Report Posted January 24, 2013 Thank you for your quick reply. From what I've seen on this board, it seems I might be able to get a nice property at under 60 p/nt. I am aiming for that. Not sure if it is feasible on my travel dates. If need be I wouldn't mind 3 *

Ancho84 Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 I used the PRICELINE links to start of my bid. thanks! No success as of yet. Suggestions welcomed.4* NMA - $504* NMA, Franklin - $554* NMA, Franklin, Hyde - $584* NMA, Franklin, Hyde, MDW Air North - $624*, 3.5* NMA, Franklin, Hyde, MDW Air North - $554*, 3.5* NMA, Franklin, Hyde, MDW Air North, Stokie - $60All rejected. No counter offers. What should I try?
thereuare Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Although rates are not high for these dates, $60 is still a bit low for a 3.5* hotel in the NMA zone... are you willing to increase your bid a bit further OR consider adding the Loop zone? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. AaronJB Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 I think a 4* in the NMA area is probably going to require $65-75, although more likely $70-75.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
