thereuare Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 My best guess for each:4* Dupont Hotel3.5* The Beacon3* Normandy Hotel would be a guess but i'm least confident about this one given the limited number of amenitiesThanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. mr_rogers Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks for the reply. If I am looking to stay at a Kimpton brand hotel, do you have any ideas on the combination I would likely have the highest probability of hitting one? or am I better off going with priceline since the combinations available look inconclusive?
thereuare Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 If I am looking to stay at a Kimpton brand hotel...Please include information like this in your first post... would have saved time looking at the 3* option (which is the one i spent the most time researching). If you're trying to use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE for a specific hotel you may be setting yourself up be disappointment. If you think you have found a match in one of the HOTWIRE hotels offered, then your all set, but beyond that there is no way to 'force' HOTWIRE to show a particular property (which they may not have any inventory for) nor is there any way to increase your chances for a specific hotel when bidding on PRICELINE.The deep discounts you see reported to the board are in exchange for not choosing the specific hotel you will receive. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know if/how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. mr_rogers Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 I'm very sorry about that. I would prefer a Kimpton, however I understand that the deep discounts are in exchange for not knowing the hotel so if it is too hard to narrow down the possibilities to a reasonable guess then I will book through PRICELINE using the board link.
thereuare Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 I don't think it's too hard to narrow down the possibilities of the hotels above, as we did and gave our best guess for each.On the otherhand, if the property(s) that you're hoping for aren't offered on the HOTWIRE search for your dates, then there is no way to 'make' them show OR bid a certain way to increase your chances of receiving them via PRICELINE.If you'd like help with a bidding strategy on PRICELINE let us know your maximum bid and your desired star rating, and if the Dupont Circle zone is the only one that you're willing to accept, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow (or if you bid on your own please use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right to report your win)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. mr_rogers Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 I checked a few other zones via hotwire but also did not see probable Kimpton matches. Would you be able to re-check that for me? If so, I would be happy to type out the listing details for the available hotwire hotels. Could you please suggest me a bidding strategy? I am looking to pay no more than $177/night at a 4* location in Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill or Downtown. Thanks!
