Roxie23 Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 I'm new to this site, but did click both links from my PM.I'm going to Vegas Feb 15-17 and would prefer the Venetian but would ultimately settle for South Strip 5 star.Price range under $125 and under (exc resort fees). Any experts here think this is still possible so late in the game?I have read through the rebidding guide and I get the gist of it, just not sure I know all the zones. Any advice is appreciatedThanks!
thereuare Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm going to Vegas Feb 15-17 and would prefer the Venetian but would ultimately settle for South Strip 5 star. The Venetian is not in the Strip South zone, so can you clarify what you are/aren't willing to accept for this trip? Are you willing to accept any 5* in the Strip North zone? Are you willing to accept any 5* hotel in the Strip South zone? If 'yes' to both of these, are you willing to pay more to stay in the North zone vs. the South zone (or vice versa) OR would the goal be the least expensive 5* hotel in either of these zones?Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.Regarding re-bidding, see this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedIf you've read that thread and are still confused or unsure of your re-bid zones, try the following:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Las Vegas, NV' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Roxie23 Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 I really want to stay at the Venetian. I would probably pay up to $140ish a night to stay there.IF I couldn't get a successful bid at a North strip hotel room (venetian, palazzo - NOT TRUMP) then I would consider a lower bid on a South Strip hotel.I would like to try for North Strip (Venetian) before settling for South Strip.I think I have all my rebid zones written down.Boulder, fremont, NW LV, Henderson, Lake, Airport, Convention, Near Strip East/West, Nellis, Summerland.I guess I'm looking for bidding strategy. What price to begin at and then when I need to close and reopen my tab to relaunch from your link.Thank you for your help
thereuare Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 I really want to stay at the Venetian. You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.IF I couldn't get a successful bid at a North strip hotel room (venetian, palazzo - NOT TRUMP) then I would consider a lower bid on a South Strip hotel.Did you want to first try for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone up to your $140 maximum bid?I would like to try for North Strip (Venetian)...As per above if you bid on the Strip North zone you can't bid specifically on the Venetian, you need to be willing to accept any 5* rated hotel in the zone (but avoiding the Trump would not be an issue since that is currently located in the Strip Vicinity North zone, and you would only be bidding the Strip North zone)Boulder, fremont, NW LV, Henderson, Lake, Airport, Convention, Near Strip East/West, Nellis, Summerland.Yes, you have your re-bid zones correct, but always double check just before bidding. Please confirm that you're willing to accept any 5* hotel in the Strip North zone up to $140/nite, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Roxie23 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 Yes, I am willing to accept any 5* hotel in the North Strip location, just crossing my fingers we get the Venetian :)
