Hello,

This is my first access in the BetterBidding.com web site and looks an amazing tool.

Me and my wife are planning a "Honey Moon" trip to NY and I would like to get a good bid strategy suggestion.

I never been in NY city before, but according my searches a good area to stay would be close to Time Square - Theater District [zone 16] or MidTown West [zone 12].

The travel purpose is only tourism and shopping.

My budget is $100 dollars/night, for 4* Hotel or a good 3*up Hotel. I am not aware about the NY prices for April time.

I would appreciate a bid suggestion and also zone suggestion.

Thank you very much, ;)

Seasonally Spring is an expensive time of year in NYC and you're $100 will not likely be enough for these dates... currently i think a 3* will cost in the $140 area... a 4* in the $180 range.

You're going to need to 'give' someplace... either budget, star rating, or zone by staying outside of the city and commuting in.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Hi,

I am thinking to stay in one of the following Zones:

- Central Park South

- Midtown West

- Times Square Theatre District

- Midtown East

I think are the most enjoyable zones to stay and to walk around.

I can raise my budget to $140 per night if I can get a good 3* Hotel in this area.

What do you think, is it reasonable?

And, how should I proceed?

Thanks,

Fabio

While the zones above are all good at the 4* level, there are some things to be aware of if lowering your star rating to 3*...

CPS - has the Hudson Hotel which while well located has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... would this be acceptable?

MTE - most of the zone is well located with easy subway access, but there are some hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?

As well, since budget is likely going to be a bit of a reach for these dates, i would also consider including ESB and/or MSG/Convention Center to your bidding.

Let us know your thoughts on which zones you decide are acceptable and we'll advise accordingly.

Hi,

we can include also the following Zones as your suggestion:

- Madison Square Garden [MSG]

- Empire State Building Area [ESB]

- Midtown East [MTE]

But MSG and ESB zones seems to be better located than MTE - maybe/I guess.

Anyway, adding those three zones how should be a strategy for 4* or 3* Hotel? Of course that I prefer 4* Hotel since this is my Honeymoon.

I am looking forward to get a good deal.

Thx,

So to confirm you're willing to accept CPS, MTW, TS, MTW, MSG and ESB? You're ok if you get a very small room (like the Hudson Hotel in the CPS zone) or a 10-15 minute walk to the subway (in the MTE zone)?

You're budget is not likely enough for a 4* and may not be enough for a 3.5* or 3* either, but we can try. Please confirm your zones above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Hi,

just confirmed.

I checked the Hudson Hotel [356 West 58th Street, Nova York] and the location seems to be very good. And according some reviews the rooms are really very small but the good location worth it.

So, if I can get this one I prefer small room with good location than 15min walking :)

******* But one important issue, its mandatory private toilet. *******

So, let's go ahead.

Just one doubt, if something happened and I need to cancel, how should I proceed?

Thank you.

All PRICELINE purchases on the 'name your own price' side of their service are non-cancelable and non-refundable. They do offer insurance for $5/nite but you need to read the terms to see what is covered and what is not (i changed my mind is not covered... most situations to be able to make an insurance claim involve sickness or health related issues)

I would wait until your plans are firm before bidding.
