stephyrob Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Hi everyone, I've been a follower but have never bid. I am hoping to get the Wynn, Encore, Palazzo or the Venetian and I need two rooms. My dates are May 17-20. My budget for each room is 120/night, is that completely unreasonable?Hoping to get some help as a rookie !
Romelle Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 HOTWIRE has 2 5*s for your dates. One at $129 is undoubtedly the Trump (kitchenette and no casino). The other is $191. $120 on PRICELINE is highly optimistic, but stranger things have happened. You'll never know until you try. ..... You might have a Plan B in your back pocket though.Welcome to Betterbidding!Romelle
stephyrob Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 Thanks Romelle! Ok maybe I can stretch to 130/night but I really want to avoid the trump.
thereuare Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates i think a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone at $130 or better is going to be difficult, you'll likely either need to lower your star rating, increase your budget, or consider the Strip South zone.If you want to give it a try (as maybe you'll get lucky even before you arrive in Vegas) you can try as follows:When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Romelle Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 The Trump currently doesn't map into the Priceline North Strip zone, so you will be safe bidding it.If you decide to shift to 4* bidding, you need to be really careful with those free rebid zones. They are not the same as at the 5* level. Romelle
stephyrob Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 Was supposes to start bidding but Looks like there is a 5* hotel right now as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for 160/night on Priceline for Las Vegas north for my dates. Casino is one of the amenities? For sure this is the Venetian palazzo or Wynn/ encore right?
Romelle Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 If you are thinking of going the Express route, there are some coupons up in the Bonus Money area. Might work?Romelle
Romelle Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 What's bonus money??It is an "add-on" to your bid, or a reduction in price for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. If you have $10/day bonus money and are bidding say $50, your bid gets increased to $60. If your bid is successful, you really do only pay the $50."Bonus Money Opportunities" is an area at the bottom of the first page on BetterBidding (Within the "Tips and Tricks ..." section).Bonus money can show up sort of randomly in your Rewards area of your Priceline Account (you can see that when you are signed on to Priceline. Sometimes it shows up for auto bids after you've successfully bid on a hotel. Nobody I know has ever figured out the logic or pattern. There often are rules like bidding at least 3* and/or at least 3 days. If you happen to have an Entertainment Book, you can find $20 Priceline bonus money in it. If you are using bonus money, you still can click through this site so it will get credit for a successful bid or purchase.Romelle
stephyrob Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 OH wow! Thanks so much Romelle!! I will explore this option.Sorry to jump back and forth but if we were to go the bidding route, are these re-bid zones correct? again I am wanting 5* star in Las Vegas North (venetian, palazzo, wynn or encore) for May 17-20, 2 rooms.2 Fremont St. Vicinity – detail map 3 Henderson – detail map 5 Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – detail map 6 Las Vegas Convention Center – detail map 12 Near Las Vegas Strip East – detail map 13 Near Las Vegas Strip West – detail map THANKS guys!
thereuare Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Those are just a few of the re-bid zones at the 5* level... when bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN such re-bid zones.See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask question and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding.
