I'm new to Priceline and was wondering what would be the best way to get Encore Suites?

Read rob1218's priceline hotel win post on how he got encore/palazzo but i don't really understand what rebidding zones are.

i went into PRICELINE via the link and then choose my dates and number of rooms as follows:

check-in 2/12

check-out 2/14

rooms 2

what does it mean when it says "if rejected add rebid zone" ?

any help would be appreciated!

thank you!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Few points to cover before we get started:

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. Hotel offers/wins are date specific, so even if you follow the exact same strategy as another user, you could receive a different hotel as them. This is true even if you have the exact same dates as the other user, but it's even more true if your dates are different.

If you're trying to target/avoid a specific property HOTWIRE can often be a better option. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. However, the trade-off for being able to take a guess of the hotel is that PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE.

Regarding re-bidding, have you see this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? It's a good read, but the short version is that re-bidding is adding a zone that only contains star rating lower then the star rating you're bidding. This enables you to bid again inside of the 24 hours lock-out period. As as an example:

Zone A: highest star rating offered is 5*

Zone B: highest star rating offered is 3*

==> If you bid for a 5* hotel and include both ZoneA and ZoneB, do you see how any win would have to be located in ZoneA since that is the only zone that has the minimum star rating threshold that you selected? (ie- Zone B doesn't contain any 5* or higher rated hotels)

We can discuss re-bidding further as we move along in the bidding process, and as you're new to the subject matter, it's highly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones before bidding.

So in light of the information above, let us know which service you think is a better fit for you for this trip and we'll take it from there.

Got it, the picture in the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? really helped!

I guess hotwire would be a better fit for me this time.

I put in all the details into hotwire and 5 results came up.

1. The Strip - South area hotel

2. The Strip - North area hotel

3. The Strip - South area hotel

4. The Strip - South area hotel

5. The Strip - North area hotel

Since encore suites is on the north side, i guess that narrows it down to #2 @ $82 and #5 @ $125

#2 has kitchenette, business center, pool etc

#5 has casino, pool, suites

since #2 doesnt have a casino, i'm guessing it's Trump and it can be eliminated, and #5 should be encore suites?

Please provide the full details for each listing (price, star rating, zone, full list of amenities) and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID each.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Best guess for the first property would be the Trump.

For the second property i believe you're missing a few amenities... at least Fitness and Pool that i noticed, and the full list of amenities is as follows:

Resort

Free Parking

Suite

Casino

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Golf

Tennis

Spa

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

If you're seeing the above as the complete list, my best guess for this one is either the Palazzo or the Veneitan, and while you should at least be prepared for either, i would slightly lean toward the Venetian being the more likely of the two.
